The existence of nationalities in the future does not mean culture has not adapted of changed over the centuries. I would hope some of our more negative cultural practises would be dead in the water in 300 years. E.G The end of child marriages and females being treated less than equals in the Middle East and parts of Asia.
No longer less than equal anywhere else, for that matter (those regions hardly have a monopoly on gender inequality).
Yeah, Vulcans seem to practice something almost akin to child marriage, as told in "Amok Time." Given how much Vulcan biology is intertwined with their marriage customs, we don't really have a read on how biologically necessary it is to do that in their case, though.
Oh! I do not know about xHamster. I would have gotten it, probably, if I had. <=== unhip and clueless
Well it's mostly known for basically circumventing any number of laws and being one of the more virus ridden sites out there. Two things that are hard to surpass on the internet.
Sorry child bride as in adult males marries prepubescent child as done in some parts of Asia and Africa today. (Laws to raise the age of a female to end child brides getting married was considered blasphemous by the Pakistani politicians and voted down) In Vulcan law one child is betrothed to another child until they meet at the appointed place as adults. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/01/pakistan-child-marriage-160118062004700.html
We may not practise what we preach in some places but at least legally and culturally certain types of behaviour are no longer acceptable, even if some of those changes are recent.
To go back to topic: I thought Faran Tahir as Cpt. Robeau was wonderful, and is to this day maybe my favourite anything in the JJverse movies. Science fiction offers the unique opportunity to cast somebody who would normally only play "terrorist", "gangster" or "guy that is falsely accused as terrorist or gangster", and give him an unequivocally, straight-forward good-guy lead role. THAT'S how you succesfully tackle social issues in your show! That's what made Lt. Uhura so special in her time. Not with any kind of message-preaching show.
TOS could get preachy from time to time, especially during season three. See: "The Savage Curtain" and "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield".
