This is inspired by M's awesome entry and my favourite video game Galaga. It's really just a concept at this stage I'm hoping to add more elements before the end of the month.
Awesome. Right down to the color of the ship. Love the 47. I would have thought a 1701 would be somewhere.
I've made a wee bit of progress, it's already bloated to 200k though, hoping to keep the final gif under a mb..
Sorry for those hoping that I'd finally finished my Star Trek Galaga gif, I still haven't. I had an idea for this months contest though, the idea was a female Tellarite character since we've only seen male Tellarites thus far, so I did this quick sketch a couple weeks ago after I'd had a bad dream, which I found while cleaning up this afternoon and I scanned it and added in some colour in my own inimitable amateurish style. Behold! I think I'll call this foxy lady Captain Trev, unless anyone has a better suggestion...
Well, she seems fatter than the Tellarites from TOS....... Also it looks like she possibly has some really bad artritis in her knees.
Well, I really like your Tellarite lady captain, @Orac! Neat idea. Have we ever seen a female Tellarite on one of the shows? I don't think we have, have we? And I dig the cartoon style as well. The pose and look of her are top notch! I do feel it would work better with a drawn background instead of the screenshot, though. Or at least scale her down a bit in the corridor. Sounds like a very Tellarite name.
I had to take a break from working on it for various reasons, I will complete it though, if it takes me a thousand years.
Warning: Large file size! Return to Star Trek Galaga: I've seriously compromised my original idea of keeping this under a mb, and trying to recreate the Fesarius in pixels just wasn't working, so you get this instead. Sorry if I've broken any rules by posting such a large image file.
As a concept it does the job but you could maby try a free app/program like the 8 Bit Photo Lab as a shortcut to produce pixel fesariuses inn different styles? Unless of course you are a purist and would rather do it by hand =)
I am a bit of a purist, but if something like that'll work I might try it. Thanks for the suggestion!
I used 8bit photolab to rasterize the Fesarius in this version. Thanks again for the tip pl1ngpl0ng! Although you can barely tell the difference when it's scaled down to 50% Sadly my computer doesn't have enough memory to export the gif at it's original size. Here's the original Fesarius full size: Here's the rasterized version for comparison: ETA: Looking at these I realize I probbly should have used this version instead: I'll take another stab at it tomorrow.
Looking good Orac! Yeah the yellow one at the bottom are probably a better choice. You would likely get away with even less details.., anyway keeping the fesarius pixelated like this suit the look & feel better IMO. I really think its a cool concept you got! Makes me want to dabble with a "flashback-style" star trek 2d platformer, just in small gif sections like this. Thats probably not a project for a phone as a tool tho =)
