I'm positive. I went from super excited to just excited a while ago though. I think the trailer looks great, but I'm ready for some damn plot points at this time. Everything doesn't have to be so freakin' mysterious.

I'm very positive. The attention to detail is astounding. I think they're getting it right, very right.

thank you for elaborating, @{ Emilia } :techman:

it's sort of... hard to argue against your point that STD is extremely blue, I guess I'm just not bothered by it the same way - maybe because I'm still in the phase of "I can't believe they are making a Star Trek show that looks so expensive!"

They've put all the attention to making this look pretty that all the other series have. It is dark like a CSI set but those shows are popular enough, I suppose. Whether the TV audience wants another batch of intrepid stalwarts meeting bumpy headed aliens is another story.

There is one, you'll just have to wait for the show.

Mildly excited. I've decided not to watch the trailers. Ever since the Batman vs. Superman trailers spoiled the whole movie for me I've sworn off trailers. But I hear it looks darker, which I like. I'm not a fan of it being set in the 23rd century, but I'm excited enough. And I don't live in the US so I won't have to pay for that stupid CBS steaming service. That would would really piss me off and make me not excited at all if I had to do that.

A litmus test reveals my pH to be neutral. I'm nether seething in the test tube, threatening to burn hole in the deck plating... or bubbling over with excitement at what I'm seeing.

My ears are more pointy than usual for sure.

    I'm pretty positive.

I think they've kept back so much info that no one really has a handle on it. Obviously the latest trailer focused on the space special effects, but I think it's important to establish early on that this thing is going to have good production values.

I'm definitely intrigued by what I've seen, and more than anything I'm just excited that Star Trek is back where it belongs, on television. It's been so long, and it'll be fun to meet a new crew and a whole new part of the universe.

After the reboot films, which have been fun, if derivative, I'm definitely ready to boldly go where no one has gone before. :bolian:

    Negative but hopeful.

I've been purposefully avoiding this subforum as it feels like there is a "love ST: DIS or you are a heretic/old hater!!" vibe going on here. So far from what I have seen, this show is giving me vibes of garbage JJ-Trek (shallow, violent, meh). I'm sort of braced for X-number of episodes of very serious, drama-filled...tedium. No Inner Light, Measure of a Man style Trek episodes...just shouting, phasers and 'saving the universe'. I'm also unimpressed with the pre-TOS setting (since Nemesis I have wanted a show set just after DS9/VOY/NEM which, to me, would be the most fun Trek) which I'm feeling has been done to death with JJ & ENT. I'm also skeptical of a show that is focusing so much on one character: Trek works best as an ensemble cast I feel.

However, if you made it this far, I am hopeful I will be pleasantly surprised. It being set in the prime-timeline for starters was a huge plus for me. The ship designs don't make me want to be violently sick (looking at you again JJ), the uniforms & phasers look great...obviously it is the best looking of the Trek's. I've also read some positive 'Trek-like' things that I like (the show is to avoid use of the word 'god', it is going to avoid cheap sexuality,...which is all positive to me and in-keeping with Trek).

So right now, I'm very skeptical. I suspect I will get bored of it if it is just violent and dependant on drama. However, those in charge are feeding me just enough 'we will keep it Trek' to keep my hopes up.

Agree 100% with all of this. I'm also afraid of more JJtrek and less of a focus on what made Trek awesome (hint: it wasn't TOS). But hey it's still Star Trek I'm still going to watch unless it proves unwatchable, so I have to still say mildly excited. But every single thing you said I agree with, a post-Nemesis, post-Dominion War show would have been full of awesome possibilities for interesting storytelling. And I want to feel like we're moving forward.

At least they didn't set it in the Kelvin timeline, I probably wouldn't have even given it a shot if they did that.

For me, it's the other way around. The vibe is 'how can you love this since it's obviously not real Trek'.

I haven't been more excited for an entertainment property since Star Trek Beyond or Star Trek Online on consoles. It looks amazing. The production value, the characters, the hints of the story they've given, the uniforms, the set design, all of it just looks phenomenal. I'm extremely optimistic.

Reminds me of the good old days where JJ Abrams was the punching bag of Trek ;)

Considering the usual flow of Trekdom, where the latest incarnation was despised untill a new incarnation comes along, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of 'I changed my mind on JJ-Trek' posts coming soon.

The KT is definitely something that my opinion on changed over time. It changed dramatically. Not because of new Trek content -- I changed as a person/viewer.

And I've been watching since 1973 and I completely disagree--TOS remains the best series, I loved the Kelvin movies and wished the new series was Kelvin based--ideally with Kirk, Spock and co. However, even though I'm not getting what I want (and recognize my preferences aren't universal), I look forward to discovering ;) the new series.

I think that's the generational difference I was talking about in another thread. 1973 is way before I was even born let alone watching Star Trek.

You know it would be interesting to do a poll to test this hypothesis. Compare people's favourite series to their generation... might be a new thread on this very soon.
