This is so damn sad. I hate to say this, but Whedon was more interesting as a television producer, when "BUFFY" and "ANGEL" were on the air. I cannot help but wonder if Geoff Johns and WB wants him to set up the "Marvel style" for the DCEU. And for the past two years, it seemed to me that the MCU has declined into formulaic mediocrity. It looks as if the DCEU will be going in that direction as well. How sad. I find it sad that Warner Bros. no longer has the balls to keep interesting and unique filmmakers like the Snyders around. Pop culture will continue its downward spiral into mediocrity, because people are too scared to face something different.

I'd love to see the Lanterns in the DCEU as soon as possible too, but since that date is directly following the Infinity War sequel and Episode IX, something smaller scale and Earth based would probably be more appropriate, like Suicide Squad 2 or Batgirl.

    Or The Batman :D

    Nothing small scale about Batman.

Whenever a new Batman film is announced, fans always work themselves into a frenzy!:D

Eh, I won't miss it. I don't really care to see another Ayer DC movie, even if Suicide Squad was ok if I ignore any connections to the comics. Keep the DCEU "Harley Quinn" in Suicide Squad sequels and use Catwoman & Poison Ivy in something not connected to the Robbie Quinn.

It would be sad to see the DCEU go the direction of the rollercoaster/Power Rangers tone of the MCU. They're two different animals, with Marvel trying to ramp up the speed of said rollercoaster as a replacement for the fact that their biggest stars / flagships of the MCU (Downey Jr & Evans) prepare to bid goodbye to the MCU.

No, he's not, but that does not mean the DCEU is not immune to trying to ape the cartoon tone of most MCU films.

For me , the DC Film Universe should feel MORE "comic book" than Marvel (which is supposed to be more "realistic").

Comic book movies SHOULD feel fun. I mean, DC TV understands this. You may not want the DC Film Universe to be like the MCU, but why not be more like DC TV.

If you want brooding superheroes, they should create new ones, like Watchmen.

The CW has taken it too far with these most recent seasons. Oliver "Drama" Queen, mopey Barry and the melodrama of Kara's life (family, relationships and career) drove me up the wall.

Sounds like they should be doing a Spider-man show. ;)

If Johns, Whedon, Jenkins and Reeves do end up becoming the major creative forces behind the DCEU then I will be very happy indeed. Whedon is one of my favorite people in the entertainment industry, Jenkins did an awesome job with WW, and Reeves Apes movies are amazing. If they can continue to bring the kind of talent to the rest of the DCEU as they have to past projects then we should be in for some great stuff.
You do realize that the time you are talking about is not long after Whedon left the MCU. I did enjoy BvS and Suicide Squad, but I wouldn't mind seeing less of Snyder's style in the DCEU. I definitely would not call Snyder an "interesting and unique filmaker". I have enjoyed his movies I've seen (BvS, 300, and Watchmen), but he's barely above Micheal Bay in terms of the depth of his movie. He seems to think he's making these big, deep, philosophical movies, but he really isn't.

Well, if they are doing the Flashpoint story, it follows that other DC heroes would appear in it, particularly Wonder Woman and Aquaman, whose nations were at war with each other in the original story's altered timeline.

Although I really wish they wouldn't do that plot for the Flash movie, because it's really, really dark and dystopian (judging from the animated version, anyway, but I gather it was pretty faithful), and I thought the Flash movie was supposed to be one of the lighter entries in the DCEU.
