Sounds like something I'd expect to hear from the Royal Navy lol

I just watched the video of the main Discovery panel and a few follow up videos with the cast. I know some people don't think Discovery is Star Trek and/or think the cast and producers/writers don't care or don't know about Star Trek, but watching those panels and reactions, for me, totally demolishes those ideas. The cast and crew seem so totally invested and interested in the show, its creation, and its meaning in culture. It makes me excited for new Star Trek like I haven't felt since late '92 when DS9 was fast approaching. It's a good time to be a Trek fan!

Perhaps interesting, but someone on FB who says he has sources claims this: "Here's what I've heard: the first two episodes are very Abrams-like, dark and action-oriented. After that it becomes very "Berman-like." Which I'm not sure is great, but will probably reassure fans."

Scary. I was hoping they did their own thing and not do a Berman again.

What I'm about to say is harsh, but....

No, it isn't a problem. Problems are when your marriage doesn't work. Problems are when you're unemployed but need to pay your mortgage and feed your kids. Problems are a 2 month old baby dying. Problems are the fucked-up political problems in the world.

If you consider this a 'problem', I'm very happy for you, because that must mean you have no actual real problems in your life. If you do have real life problems, and still consider different looking Klingons a problem, I suggest you re-evaluate your priorities.

I'm going to use this the next time my boss tells me there's a problem with one of my databases at the university.

Thanks :bolian:. Of course, video "not available" in Europe. I really don't understand this "marketing"

It's essentially everything that the news outlets have reported coming from the panel, but I figured it'd be better to base our views off of the actual source than off of reports about it.

I got around the region block by downloading the video. Which makes this kind of blocking even more pointless. I agree, it's nice to have a professional recording of the panel. From this and group interviews it seems the cast has great chemistry.

I just don't see them going the Berman route. They might not be able to sustain the action and darkness over an extended period but that doesn't mean a return to Berman Trek.

That's one thing I'm very relieved to see. Not all casts really gel that quickly. I believe TNG's cast (sans Sir Stewart for obvious reasons) hit it off pretty quickly, same with Enterprise if simply because of Scott Bakula, but DS9's & Voyager's casts took years before they had any semblance of that. So it's really encouraging to see that these guys really get along at this point.

Do you have a link perhaps? I'm not saying this person is legitimate, but would like to read the original post.

Perhaps by "Berman" they mean less dark and gritty and more like traditional Trek. In other words we'll also get the exploration of humanity, science, wonders of the universe, and everything else people are clamoring.

It's very common to have a series or season premiere to be more action filled than following episodes, so that doesn't mean much.
