I have tried searching for some smutty personification of my newest ship and have only come across one on fanfiction.net that wasn't what I was looking for but still enjoyed. Even the infamous AO3 with their incestuous/autosexual/child abuse-ridden fanfics don't have this beyond a multi-ship fic that still has Riker ending up with Troi (cue major eye roll). Am I going to have to write this ship myself?! I'm not even sure if I'm a good fanfic writer, especially beyond a one shot or two. If you have recommendations/links, send em my way.
Well, personally I have a fanfic going right now with Picard and a non-canon character (it's not me, really) Because all the ones I always found were him and Beverly(Eye-roll) or sometimes slash ones. Which are okay generally but not with Picard! I suggest that you write your own. I also have a wonderful Professor Snape/non canon character(not me either, I swear) fanfic. I say write your own!
Oh my gosh, that reminds me - when I looked up Picard fic, all I could find was Beverly/Picard and Riker/Picard. Beverly's existence irritates me, so the amount of fanfic pairings they have also gets under my skin!
I think the Ro/Riker not being a thing is because of any crew that one could see him being buddy-buddy without the romantic ties, its actually those two. granted they arn't on the show, but there is something entirely unromantic about them, more if they had been given the opportunity on the show, could have been great proverbial drinking buddies. Ro in a pairing also seemed kind of, i don't know, unneeded i felt. She was a relativity strong character and one of the rare female characters in the franchise during that period that were allowed to exist without the handicap of romance. I think others might feel the same way and that's why she's not really paired with Riker like that.
Write some yourself. If you're not sure if it's any good, that's what beta readers are for (unless your family members are TNG fans who will be honest with you, it's best not to ask family to critique your writing). Sometimes it is necessary to be the first to get things going with your favorite characters. If you write one or two and post it on fanfiction.net or AO3, it could very well inspire other people to start doing stories with Riker/Ro. For all you know, they may be in the same situation - didn't see any of it around, not sure if they should do their own stories... You never know until you try.

I've written TNG fanfic, although it was so long ago that none of it has been posted online. A beta reader is someone who proofreads your stories, offers suggestions for improvement, and can hopefully help if you get writer's block (everyone does, sooner or later). I've just finished a month-long project for Camp NaNoWriMo, so I'll read your story in a day or two (I need to unwind a bit from mentally spending the last 30 days in the dwarven city of Stonebridge).
I like it so far. Ro and Riker is way better than Troi and Riker But I'm wondering Why Geordi calls Riker at 4am to come to the bridge and then Data is there apologizing for waking him up to come to the bridge and then a minute of so later, Riker tells Data to call up Geordie. And between 0400 and 0623, what the heck was Riker Doing?? And he should be rude but maybe not cussing straight out of the gate?
Yeah I read it back last night and caught pretty much all of that. I'll be moving some minor things around so it flows better. As for the time jump, I wanted to make it seem like he was taking a loooooooong time in the shower, but that will be moved around too! Thanks for your feedback!
I can't edit my post (I'm guessing it's because I haven't met the 14 post requirement yet!), but I wanted to add a little more! The night shift called Geordi up first since subspace comm. was jammed up, but by the time Riker made it to the Bridge Geordi was already down in engineering trying to figure things out. And I had Riker cursing a little because it is early and he does hate the Ferengi, haha! But I'll switch that up too! @Timewalker I just saw your post! I'll definitely PM you. Thanks for offering your help!
Also watch the colloquialisms. Like Ro "beating shit out of someone". Think of how that might sound to someone from 1790. Also Picard seemed a little wishy-washy when he is speaking to the Ferengi. Remember to keep the characters canon to their characterization from the show. Picard would not be stuttering or hemming-hawing about the Ferengis.
And sometimes you have to write in stuff that is going on in your mind because, And this is a good thing, we can't read your mind.

I tried taking into account everything you guys mentioned by switching around, adding (or subtracting) dialogue and some minor work that wouldn't completely change the narrative but definitely altered certain characters (Picard, Geordi, etc.). Hope I did your suggestions justice! Let me know if you've got more pointers!
Oh and I tried my best to change both Riker and Picard's demeanors - most importantly their dialogue with the Ferengi leader!
