Hi all, I'm new here and I've been really enjoying watching DS9. It is the only series from the 90s I did not watch. I'm currently halfway through season 6. My favourite characters are Quark and Garak. I like the episodes that feature them. I also liked Gul Ducat initially but feel he has been made too one dimensional now. Hopefully there are still some twists to come where his character is involved.

The most recent episode I watched was the one where Sisko is a scifi writer in the 1950s. It was good to see the characters in their "human" forms.

Oh yeah, as I mentioned in the subject line, I use VLC player and I watch the videos in at least 2.3 speed. For the slower episodes I bump it up to around 2.8. This allows me to get through 3 or 4 episodes per hour.

That does not sound enjoyable at all. I couldn't do it.

    In any case, welcome aboard!

For me it is. I've got one of those weird brains that can do this sort of stuff.

To each his own. I will watch with subtitles and no sound, so that I can listen to separate music at the same time.

Does this feature normalize the sound frequency or does that make everyone talk in a really high voice?

You may be able to process all the information at that speed but I'd think you'd at least lose the effect of the timing and emotional nuances.

When watching DS9, I kind of want it to last as long as possible. I'm not trying to get it over with.

Why would you do that! It's not like you're having to suffer through VOY or ENT

DS9 is like chocolate, best to take time with a savour, let it melt in the mouth and coat your tongue. It's insidious like that, it'll soon get into every nook and cranny and slowly take over your fandom until you are a Niner!

I'm guessing you eat fast food, do speed reading...
I won't speculate about other activities.

Lately I've been trying to watch Star Trek in ways I haven't seen it before. i.e. I just did a re-watch of my Star Trek dvd's with the picture set on stretch to fill the 16:9 telly screen instead of setting the channel to the correct 4:3 aspect ratio like I usually do simply because I've already seen all the episodes many, many times like that and I wanted to try something different. Perhaps I will get around to watching them in chipmunk mode one day as well. It would probbly be good for a laugh, for the first 10 minutes anyway.

I used to watch two episodes at once, freaked my girlfriend out, that I could do that and still recall little details.

Not sure I could or want to watch it this way, but if it works for you, then go for it. :techman:
