Doomsday Clock sounds almost exactly like what I want out of Rebirth. My dream ending for it was this -- Superman-Prime (of DC One Million and All-Star Superman, an alien who loved humanity so much that he spent centuries rebuilding the heart of the sun) and Dr. Manhattan (a human who lost his humanity and essentially became an alien) sit and talk for about four issues. In my dream it was Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely working on this -- a golden Superman appears, says, "Jon, we need to talk," and there it goes, a trippy, metaphysical journey through the meaning of life itself. That's almost certainly not what Johns and Frank will do, and that's fine. Superman and Dr. Manhattan really are the natural pairing because they're complete contrasts -- one, the alien who became human and embodies the best in us; the other, the human who became alien and rejected everything about us. I'm sure Alan Moore is screaming in Northampton. He criticized Johns years ago for ripping him off in Green Lantern (by introducing the various rainbow corps), and now Johns is directly addressing Watchmen. "Have your own ideas and stop using mine," is probably the thought going through Moore's head.
Well I don't like any part of Watchman, but I want to follow the ongoing Rebirth storyline, so I'll read it. As for Alan Moore, while I don't see how Johns ripped off his GL work (Moore certainly didn't introduce anything close to the various Lantern Corps, that was all Johns and it was the best thing to happen to Green Lantern in the entire history of the Hal jordan version), but I do think they should stop using Watchmen. I mean, I think that because I think Watchmen is a terrible story that is vastly overrated, but how they've basically screwed over Moore with it is also something to think about. Regardless, I'm really hoping this mini ends the Watchmen stuff. It probably won't, but hopefully we're getting close to the wrap up of that stuff.

So, after reviving the miniseries format for underused characters in "The Death of Hawkman" and "Fall & Rise of Captain Atom", is DC now bringing back the Elseworld format?
Got the impression it was a stand alone story. The regular Nightwing book is still being published twice a month.
Well, yes, it's a mini-series outside the regular book, but that actually supports my impression of it being an Elseworld story. If it was an alternate timeline with a reset button at the end to arrive back in the canon universe, it would fit in with the regular Nightwing series.
Convergence was too big and cost way too much money to go nowhere... And yes it went no where, unless that's where the "new" Superman is from. (This is me being scowling and disapproving towards DC.) Or did you mean that The Button was "Meh"?
That was the whole point. It was an "non-event" created for DC to move shop to California. Except it apparently screwed retailer sales and killed the DCYou line that followed. And it's the entire reason why Rebirth or Geoff Johns being heavily involved with editorial is a thing after Didio seems to have become the fall guy for Convergence. New Order? More like discredited old order.
The "new" Superman (aka the old pre-New 52 one) was from Convergence. Well, he was from the pre-New 52 universe, but was introduced into the current universe through a Convergence mini. He had a good two issue story. As for the event itself, the main Convergence story was ok, not amazing, but the various two issue mini's had a lot of good to great stuff, including a nice ending to the pre-New 52 Roy harper (reversing that stupid shock death in Cry for Justice by reviving Lian) and Nightwing/Oracle (Gail Simone wrote the story had them get married, which worked out well). There was also a lot of cool stuff with heroes from other versions of the DC Multiverse.

Reality has been jiffied, so that their amalgamated memories make sense? FUUUCK. I just don't understand why this happens, you make Kal's life smoother, and yet Darkseid is still on a throne? What about the Titans? Last time I looked at that (nearly a year ago) Post Crisis Wally was feeding his buddies post crisis memories of their lives before the New 52. I see a conflict there.
