I have the feeling that they are going for some type of soft reboot next season. I've read somewhere else a person theorizing that there will be a time jump in Season 6 and I'm inclined to agree with that. The "Five Years In Hell" plot that dominated the flashbacks is done, perhaps we are going to see flashbacks of another "Five Years in Hell", of those who survived the S5 Finale ? I think that would be neat.

Either way, whatever direction they are taking, I hope they keep the tidy writing from this Season.

And they better not kill Curtis. :brickwall: It took such a long time for them to fix his Character Arc, if they kill him now, I'm going to be so angry...

Speaking of Mayor queen. There are a couple ARGUS soldiers that know he beat them up.
I guess that could be something Lyla can cover up.

The producers have said they're not going to do regular flashbacks anymore. If there are flashbacks, they'll be intermittent and probably focused on characters other than Oliver.

So, they are going to change the classic Arrow Episode Formula... It will be interesting to see which direction this takes us.

We have seen a few episodes without flashbacks -- most recently 4 weeks ago in "Dangerous Liaisons," IIRC. Which was followed by "Underneath," with flashbacks to last summer rather than 5 years ago, so that was a 2-week gap in the ongoing flashback narrative.

    Great finale!

Was this the first (only?) episode set entirely on the island, both flashback and present day?

I believe so, the only other time I can think of that they were on the island in the present, the flashbacks were in Star City in the past.

I didn't know Bam Bam was working on Arrow. I remember him from working on Stargate.

Not just working, DIRECTING too! The guy really has an eye on fight choreography in this show. Last year there was a huge action sequence in a (insert abandoned location of the week) which involved Thea (and her stunt double) fighting into an elevator on one floor, continuing the fight in the elevator, and then spilling out on another floor to keep going - in one unbroken shot. It was a marvel of creative set decoration, camera work and editing to make that work, and was beautiful to watch. On a show like this the action scenes are practically their own studio and it shows.

Tangent: Stephen Amell finally realized his fans' wishes and did a "celebrity" edition of American Ninja Warrior, which aired last night. Guess who showed off his skill at the salmon ladder once and for all. :P

Stephen Amill is ripped and has quite a rigorous workout routine. When I was watching the series in December my random exploring of YouTube brought me to a video where he was showing his workout routine. It was pretty unreal.

By the way lost in the excitement of the cliffhanger, the interchanging from preasent to flashback might have been my favorite thing about the episode. This felt climatic and epic. The work, from the directing to the music, was really well done.

Why doesn't Oliver simply step down as mayor? It would be the sensible thing to do.

SIGH! No wonder this show disappoints me sometimes.
