    I said out, dammit!
And people make fun of me for having a huge DVD/BD collection when "everything is available for streaming whenever you want!"
Nope, no it aint. See? ;)

Didn't I read somewhere that the season 1 recliners were stolen?

I definitely saw a memo about a lot of wigs and hairpieces that were stolen from TOS.

I'm now picturing a classic Comic-Book-Guy-style obsessive fan lounging on Data's recliner while wearing Uhura's wig.

I like the In-Universe theory on the Nescos (sp?). The production (real-world) explanation is a lot more boring: the actors don't know the show as well as we do. They may not have even seen the completed episode once (many performers don't like watching, it's like hearing your own voice in a recording, you never sound like you think you should), and they certainly can't remember every script from a weekly show. Patrick Stewart doing the movie probably didn't even remember what that object was, he just wanted to get through a shooting day and go home.

Was listening to the "Face Of The Enemy" ep of the "Greatest Generation" pod today (I love that podcast -- and I usually hate any version of a TV recap podcasts, but the two guys who do this one are really entertaining). They have this whole riff about how nothing is more dangerous for a Starfleet officer than going to and from a conference, you are definitely going to be abducted by aliens or imperiled by a freaky space anomaly.

I have to say, I never noticed that before -- the crew really do barely survive all their travel for conferences!

Now that I realize that, it's almost as good as my favorite Trek trope, which is how slow on the uptake the crew is every time someone gets possessed. They always waste half the episode speculating about mundane explanations ("why do you think Troi's entire personality just changed? She must be working too hard...") before they realize that, once again, it's possession/brainwashing/replacement by evil duplicate/twin/clone.

Not if the CRT TV's brightness, color, and contrast settings weren't calibrated right - dark brown and black can be indistinguishable on an old set as well if the CRT had aged beyond its half-life thanks to the wonderfulness of entropy...

Dang, now I sound even more like Sheldon Cooper...

I had the same issue. I didn't know Betazoid eyes were all black, either. Then again, I watched TNG on 13" black and white television for much of its run.

IIRC, there's a great line in the original cut, where Troi says as an aside to Worf:
"Besides, Worf, I've already seen it."
    To which Riker grins. :D
Which is a cute little acknowledgement of the Worf/Troi relationship in TNG's last season. Pity that line ended up on the cutting room floor.
Although, maybe the last thing that Nemesis needed was a dick joke. :p ;)

I just didn't bother to pay attention. I have enough problems making eye contact with people I'm talking to...

Well, it's not really something you pay attention to. To paraphrase Red from Shawshank, "Seriously, how often do you really look at a person's eyes?"

When Sirtis was the main guest at a con back then, she told a story about the contacts. Prior to that, I didn't know it, either.

It just seems easy to miss. Look, when the Enterprise is 3 inches long and half an inch high, I'm not going to get the finest details, you know?

That, or Picard just tried strolling through the Enterprise decks incognito, probably to find out how his personnel thought of him. I suppose Data was in on his devious little scheme.

I always thpught that they were simply evacuating the survivors of the Ent-D and Starfleet would return later to salvage what was left of the saucer and try and remove any trace of it.
