I was merely speculating, I have no idea either way. And where in the West Country are you?

It was my understanding that all three of those are pretty much the same model, just ever so slightly different.

How so? They're £10.99, for the "price point" and the quality of the ones I have, I think that is great value for money.

I was a subscriber once. I received the first two models, for which there were errors. For example, one was a broken model and the other violated one of the cardinal rules of coloring - keep within the lines. These were the most glaring errors. I choose to cancel the order at that time. Since then, I have been keeping up with the models - reading and listening to the reviews. My estimation of the models is based largely from this initial experience and what I have learned from the reviews.

It was the same model. It was inverted initially and modified slightly for each consecutive appearance.

    Orbital Office Complex (TMP)

    Regula 1 lab (TWOK)

    Starbase 375 (TNG)

It's just a matter of personal preference. I think SB375 is more credible as a Trek space station and will also make a better model.

If it was broken, that just sounds like it was broken in transit. I can't excuse the colouring, but either way I'd have contacted eaglemoss on both counts, alot of companies take pride in their finished products, so you might have got some replacements?

I forgot the model had those ontop/underneath originally and taking a look at those graphics, I'd agree.

You could have received a replacement of the broken one if you were a subscriber (saying that FP here reordered a model for me as it broke in transit) as for the the rest of the models, I have no problem with them, I'm sure if I really wanted to be nit-picky I could get upset about it, but for the price I paid back in the UK and now here in Ireland, I feel they are a bargain and I know it sucks when you get a product that may seem lacking in some way, but the rules of averages does pretty much indicate that slight niggles can crop up from time to time.

Exactly, when my first Shuttle set was lost in transit, they sent me a new set no questions asked.

And I see you're in the West Country @MadeIndescribable, where abouts would you be?

If you follow Ben's Twitter conversations, news are revealed about DSC.

    1) Eaglemoss is likely to produce at least two.

    2) Ben was eager to reveal that DSC features lots more than two ships.

    3) The design of the Discovery is 'same but different'. That basically means that what we saw is the shape of the ship. Only details like nacelle-shape, color and geeblies might be different. Compare the final NX-01 with the first ever preview of the brown, smooth-saucered Enterprise (no bloody NX-01).

Yes I know, but I'd not seen it in any other behind the scenes material before so was curious as to the origins.

Interesting! Thank the Prophets that never became came a reality...

My mistake then, I got the impression you thought it had appeared on screen from what you said and had just forgotten about it or the like.

K-7 is a thing of beauty! I'd definitely pick that up. I just love the design of that station, it's so sixties. I liked the Starbase FJ extrapolated from that design for the Tech Manual.

Picked up #97 the Academy Flight Trainer (out today) this afternoon. Probably not the most eagerly awaited of all time, but still a nice little one to have. I haven't seen TNG: The Final Duty for donkey years so I can't really remember how much you actually ever see of it, pretty sure it ain't much at all, but it's still a nice addition to the collection and one of those ones that without this collection you'd have never had otherwise.

I've seen some people commenting on the yellowish colour of it, interesting in the magazine there are a few pics of the original studio model, and some it looks white like you'd expect it to, but in the other two it does have that yellow tint to it. I think this is what Ben Robinson has talked about before that lighting and whatever else can totally change or distort the perception of a physical model. So the challenge they always have is how faithful to the original model do you go?

I think he talked about it in this podcast, which is a good watch if it hasn't been posted here before, where he talks about various aspects of the collection from it's inception, production etc-

I watched the episode last week because of the ship. You see a few flight scenes - more than I remembered. The yellow colour is a Probert style and pops up a few times in early TNG material.

Good question. Andy Probert mentioned in another Trekyards episode that the Romulan Warbird is not nearly as green as the one we saw on TV.

Conversely, the studio model for the Jem'Hadar attack ship is very purple and the Galor class is a very bright mustard yellow. Both are rather diffused on-screen. (The Micro Machine for the Galor is the same color. I'd wager the people at Galoob used the actual model as a reference).

Ultimately, I suppose we should try to go by what's on-screen. The studio model, be it real or CG, isn't the whole process behind bringing a ship to life.

^ When I watch hi-rez videos of Apple Store staff, their uniforms always appear purple, when they're really navy blue. Everything else in the video seemingly is in real color. I can't explain it.

Similarly, the blue ENT and NEM grey-shoulder unis often appear purple on my screens.

TBH, I would've wished the Eaglemoss Dominion ships were more purple than grey, like the Furuta bug.

Anyway, I'm pretty hyped for the BSG Collection now that it's official. Really looking forward to the old and new battlestars. Btw, the BSG wiki does not seem to work anymore? It redirects to a nonfunctional login page.

What BSG ship are you most hyped about?

Pretty excited about the BSG collection also. I can't wait to get my hands on some classic 1978 Colonial Vipers! As far as small craft and starfighters go, the Viper and the X-wing are my preferred designs.

The Romulan Warbird miniature (whose lines I actually prefer over the CG model that came after it) was actually almost completely gray, with just a hint of green tint. The over-saturated green hull color on-screen came from lighting and post-production color correction, so not unheard of.

Galactica sounds cool, but at this point I am so pressed for space that the only other ship collection I would be willing to make room for would be Babylon 5, and that's probably never going to happen.

I wish B5 could happen, too, but I suspect we won't see anything like that unless it's rebooted, and they're not likely to do a continuation since half the cast is now sadly dead! :(

In this case, however, I will whole-heartedly jump into BSG - both versions - with both feet forward. Hell, even my wife actually said that the new line sounds really cool - need to strike while the iron is HOT on that one!
