I think this is an actual short film of it's own, not a clip from the movie, so if you just don't want to see any of the movie that isn't a problem.

Ah, good to know, although it's a pity if this scene isn't in the film. I wonder the same about that other scene we saw a couple of months ago with the Covenant crew.

Terrific, this is exactly what I wanted to know after the first trailer.

I'm pretty sure that one was a clip from early in the movie.

i really hate this premise -- a new colony gets massacred before it starts. How do they explain it to the public, and get people to go out like Newt;s colony?

Covenant should have pushed back man;s journey into space, not accelerate it. By the original Alien, it seemed like space travel was commonplace (though slow).

Also, really wish Blomkamp got a chance to do his movie...

I think it's still a bit early to be making those kinds of complaints, we still don't know exactly how things play out in Covenant. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is covered up by Weyland-Yutani in the end.

This film feels an awful like Dark Horses Prometheus: Fire and Stone

Went to a a double feature screening of Alien and Aliens last night. They showed supposably 'exclusive footage' during the intermission between the two.

One was that prologue/short film with David and Shaw. Which I'd seen before.

The other was the entirety of the 'back-burster' scene from the trailer, which is new as far as I know.

The reviews are starting to come out.

Non-spoiler version for those who don't want to click: They're generally positive-to-mixed (with the negative reviews coming mostly from geek-centric websites). Covenant IS Prometheus 2, despite the Alien name and titular critters bolted on to it. It IS better than Prometheus, but not by much. It takes its sweet time getting to the point where all hell breaks loose, then almost tries to cram too much into the last act. It does answer some questions left over from the first film, but leaves others still hanging and raises yet more questions (presumably for Awakening* and its followup to answer).

    * Yeah, that's the working title of the next one. Script's reportedly done, shooting to start before the year's out.

Great... 1 sequel down, another 3 to go before we get to wherever the hell this was supposed to go when they originally planned only two movies.

Ridley Scott never had a story in mind for Prometheus 2, it's why it had so many failed attempts at a script by various writers until it was decided to focus on a new crew.

From what I gather, those "idiots" never had a problem with Prometheus being different. It was due to the flawed script, the one-dimensional characters and editing.

Well, that was easily the worst film I've seen so far this year. You'd think after the ridicule thrown at Prometheus for the stupidity of its characters they wouldn't do the same again but no they actually doubled down on it instead.

When the Evil Robot tells you to stick your head into the Creepy Space Egg to have a look at what's inside, of course you're going to do it! Why wouldn't you?

I agree...the movie didn't learn from any of the mistakes of Prometheus, it makes them again and adds several new ones.

Just got back from watching a pre-release.

If you liked Prometheus, you'll like this one too. If you didn't like Prometheus, well, then you won't like this one.

I thought it was visually nice, but lacking in story. I see people complaining about stupid characters, and yes, there are some stupid things that happen, but I thought the characters in Prometheus were worse.

My main problem with this movie is how predictable it was.

That is really heartbreaking to hear. :weep:

I'm still planning on going next week (in Orlando's new 4DX theater if they have it there), but these early reviews have really knocked the wind out of my sails. This 'apology' for Prometheus is sounding more and more like a very calculated FU to its critics and to the studio for demanding more Aliens.
