I'm feeling a little inspired (not a lot mind you) in a lateral sort of a way by Jayson's recent thread regarding becoming a female, dying and thus becoming more evolved.

In particular he mentioned having posted on the bbs and visited strip clubs whilst on work time, which of course led me to the image of someone sat posting in a dark corner of some back street joint waving the performer away because they haven't finished their post yet and led me to wonder about the unseen realities behind the profound intellectual meanderings of the community.

Not who people are, not their personal circumstances, but rather the odd and bizarre circumstances in which they have posted, things which might make the rest of us go "eh?" should we realise and associate the post with the context.

To get things started I have recently posted in here whilst handcuffed to a total stranger......true story, any better offers?

    I've posted in..

The train and tram, many bazillion times

    A concert

THE MOVIES especially when bored, pretty much guaranteed I'll be posting in the movies

    Several different countries and airports

hmm... can't really think of anything actually hilarious. I'd like to say I have posted in the toilet but no, I don't even read in there, I'm in and out in like 20 seconds, I'm very regular that way. I do picture certain posters here posting on the toilet most of the time though.

You know, even though I've been posting here for about 13 years now, I can't recall anything too crazy in terms of places I've posted from. From work definitely, on my cell phone while waiting in line somewhere probably, but you for sure have me beat with the handcuffed thing.

I've made a post while standing in line for a ride at Disney World. Not sure how rare that is.

I do all my posting from a regular desktop computer, either at home or work. Nothing remarkable about that, except sometimes I post while I'm naked. (At home, that is.)

I've posted too many times when I was too tired, drunk and/or in a negative emotional state.

Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom if I recall correctly. And I think it was even a mod post, telling somebody off for making me mod shit while I'm at Disney World.

So how did you break Space Mountain?

Apparently the safety failsafes are much more sophisticated and modern than the ride itself, having been added later, so the tolerances of the two are out of sync.

The ride is not supposed to pass 30 ish mph at any point but given it's age and unpredictability it periodically does, depending on the load weights, ambient temperature, whether Mars is in alignment with Jupiter, blah blah blah

The upshot, we were told, is that the newer, less forgiving safeties clamp down and stop the carts at brake points around the track, effectively trapping the riders until teams of staff can release them manually, which is not necessarily an immediate thing given they need teams of two or more trained staff per cart.

What they do in the meantime is send some poor put upon individual to each cart to reassure people, which in our case meant my wife, myself our eldest lad and my brother in law for best part of an hour. Kinda awkward if you need a wee, but it is interesting to see the inside when it's not hurtling passed you. It's essentially mostly scaffolding and gantries with lights scattered around to give the impression of stars racing past with four or five carts in there at any given time.

Arguably I did not personally break it but typically it's safest to assume everything is my fault.
