Dude was a top-tier quarterback for his entire career and Dallas fans treated him like dirt. It's a shame he won't get a ring but I'm glad he's getting out before winding up in a wheelchair.

Oh, shit, I just realized that former Dallas QBs are going to be the top analysts for both major networks. Kill me.

I'm not a Cowboys fan, but Romo was a fun player to watch. Though I'm glad he is getting out now, back surgeries tend to take a toll on the body.

Yeah but he just replaced Phil Simms so how bad could it be.

Romo deserved better than what he got from Dallas fans. I hope some day they'll appreciate what he gave them and how big a role he played in the team's resurgence, even if he was never able to lead them to a Super Bowl.

My favorite Cowboy and player of all time and the reason I loathe most of my fellow Cowboys fans.

Word is that Romo has already been hired by CBS to replace Phil Simms in the booth.

There might be a God after all.

So here's a weird little thing I found today. Apparently, Eli Manning and the Giants are being accused of reselling club equipment as "game-used" memorabilia that were never actually used in any game. Lawsuit was brought to them back in 2014 by a sports memorabilia dealer, but seems to be heating back up again. Eli denies it of course, but there is allegedly this "smoking gun" email from him to team equipment manager Joe Skiba in 2010 that said:
For the record, I am not in any way, shape or form an Eli fan. I hate the Giants and despise him - he strikes me as being a sniveling little shitstick, especially when his OL lets a couple defenders through to pancake his narrow little ass, but I feel I may actually have to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. How does a 2-time Super Bowl champ, with his profanely yuuuuge base salary, championship bonuses and a metric ass-ton of corporate endorsements, NOT make enough money that he needs to falsify random club equipment as game-used memorabilia?!? Something here really kind of stinks and I don't think it's Eli's cup.

    Time out!

^ I like that look on him. The "piledriver" I think it's called.

Heh...I have a vague recollection when this happened, too - I think it was the NFC conference championship game leading up to their SB XLVI win in 2012. He got completely pummeled and popped up out of a huge scrum seconds before either the end of the half or the game - can't remember precisely. I might be exaggerating it out of my muddled memory, but I do recall that game was a bit of a nail-biter. But with the cock-eyed helmet bouncing around loose on his head and pads sticking out everywhere, coupled with the fact that he seemed to be running around the field a bit askew screaming "time out" was just profoundly amusing to me, for some reason.

Did he at least run to the correct sideline?

Not sure. IIRC, he was trying to find the nearest zebra. After that, I think a few teammates came over to help him discombobulate himself. I suspect they helped him off in the correct direction after he got his bell rung.

Big Ben was frequently putting himself in those bad positions, and he was no kid at the time.

Though it is becoming more prevalent that college kids are getting themselves in trouble.

I blame society....and aliens, definitely aliens.

If I was an agent, no way I'm leaving the kid alone during the week leading up to the draft.

Heh...reminds me of all the off-season shenanigans they show in HBO's "Ballers". Not a very flattering picture of the NFL culture in general. Especially with regard to Dwayne Johnson's character's tumultuous time as a wealth manager for these ass-clowns. Even dipshit Goodell tried to keep some players from doing guest-roles.

Can't believe they kept that show and killed Brink, but it is somewhat entertaining to watch all these unhinged man-children engage in epic-fail every week (and I think Brink may have gotten things a little too accurate - and got themselves canceled for it - which is kind of scary if you think about it). Getting to be a tired premise, however, especially seeing it all happen so efficiently in real life.

Reminds me of the short-lived ESPN show Playmakers, which was apparently a little too close to reality for the NFL's comfort, so it ended after one season.
