Today April 25th is World Penguin Day! It's when the penguins start to migrate northward.

I came across a channel tonight that has some interesting action figure vids. Quite a few hilariously bizarre bootleg/KO figures in some of them. :D This one's mainly just a random assortment.

    Hi,
after building the Enterprise D-Bridge, I decided to go ahead and build the Ops :)
A few things are still missing. The railings for instance and I'm still debating with myself whether or not I should build Siskos office. But for the moment I consider this project finished. Here are a few pictures:

    And a "little" making of:

I absolutely love it! I love that you included the step-by-step pictures! The figures trying to help usually means it is taking double the time, but it is always so much fun! And also the text in the speech bubbles is really funny! But the best piece is that black picture with the zzzzz ;)

I once did something similar with the Torchwood team building a new Hub. I still am not finished with this house.

That ops diorama is amazing. That is a quality work of art. I wish I was that skilled.

Here's my attempt at recreating Engineering. It looks like a blend of season one and two of TOS.

Throwback Thursday: Some figures from my childhood in East Germany. The mechanic and fireman are similar to Playmobil, having hands that can grab accessories.

The others are just made from gum. A ship captain & a police man at the left, at the right a taylor (from the fairytale?) & a robber and the two guys in the middle are Moritz and Max from the Wilhelm Busch Max & Moritz comics. No idea if they are known outside of Germany: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_and_Moritz

With all those figures, I have no idea who the maker is, where are they from or if there are more, but I have known them all my childhood. I actually also had several of these mice, everyone called them Mickeymouse but at the time I had no idea why! That picture is from the net, not mine. No idea where mine are. I had white, yellow, brown and green.

When I first saw your mechanic and policeman, I thought theu were Playmobile. My frinds had Playmobile, but I mostly had Star Wars figures and Tonka Trucks.

When you say gum, you don't mean chewing gum do you? That would seem odd.

I've made my decision from a few posts back, but now I need to repair my car. So much for a new PC anytime soon.

All these Trek sets are giving me ideas. Love what I've seen so far.

I seriously need to get my 3d program set up again so I can complete a few thing...figure-related.

Sorry for any typos...I'm on my phone.

Yes, they certainly look like Playmobil. I don't know if they were made in East Germany itself or other countries, as we also had toys from Hungary or Chechoslovakia.

I guess they didn't take plagiarism very serious back then! I also had building blocks similar to Lego. Nothing too fancy, just the main blocks. And miniature versions where you could make cars from. I'll show them another time.

No, the rubber kind. I guess. Not plastics anyway, and no articulation.

I love Playmobil. I have a small collection of them from my childhood. My earliest toys were the 90's kenner Star Wars power of the force 2 figures that made all the characters look buff and toned.

I'm more than a little disappointed. Not only is Hasbro for not following any sort of scale, whatsoever, for their 6-inch figures, but also for Mezco for labeling their One:12 figures as such. I somehow doubt, even with the heels on those TOS boots, that Sulu is 6'6" tall. His figure should NOT be 6-1/2-inches tall. It should be about 6-inches...period.

So now I need to rescale my TOS chairs to match the Mezco figures. Not only that, but they absolutely won't work with all of the Black Series Star Wars figures that I have (I like cross-overs).

I haven't opened Kirk or Spock yet, but I'm assuming they're 6.5-inches, too, as their descriptions label them as such.

I'd've saved my money and modeled my own Star Trek figures if I'd known this. I could have used that money for my car repairs.

That said, now I'm really confused. I thought I'd chosen 1:12 as my scale, and was going to work mostly in that scale. I may have found a new love for 1:10-scale. Yup, I've found the NECA Aliens figures; The Queen is on her way from Hong Kong.

    Damn...15-inches tall!

So much for modeling Star Trek in 6-inch scale. Looks like I'll be modeling Star Wars in 7-inch scale.

C'mon, Hasbro! What were you thinking???

Oh, yeah, you wanted to scale 3PO the same as you did R2 (and possibly Slave Leia) and out of scale with the rest of your line.

Thankfully, I have the Bandai 1:12-scale models of R2 and 3PO.

And I worked it out...the One:12 Collective figures are One:11.

I need to properly introduce the QMX Bones yet. He comes with some awesome things!
Moving tricorder, phaser, communicator and lots of hands like Kirk and Spock. But his best bit is the medical set! It connects to his pants via magnets. And all the items can be taken out.
And he even has the small ring! It is loose and can be put on any hand. And the Exclusive version even has the medical tunic.

He is! I've started to make a biobed for him now. Wonder if the good doctor ever laid in his own sickbay?

I started out with glueing and nailing several pieces of styrofoam together to get a base. Then I coated it with cardboard as that will be easier to paint. Styrofoam will melt if spray painted with the wrong paint (that is not acid-free). So be careful if you want to attempt that too!

Awesome Biobed! I always love to see stuff like that. These QMX-Figures are fantastic. But they are so expensive, I'd be afraid to play with them 8[

Coco has been repaired. The band is a bit loose, so I have to fix that, but at least she's in one piece! Just need to wait for her gown to dry, then I'll dress her and fix her hair.

Thank you! I was afraid at first as well. In the beginning I handled them much more carefully than the other figures (Big Chief Doctor Who and Sherlock) I had so far. Just because they look so nice. But I have become a bit more confident now. What good are they doing if just standing in a glass case?

Here are two more pics just for you. Just some cardboard, folded and glued in the right places, making up the front of the bed. Easy peasy!

@Kira's Mom: Great job on reparing the doll! I didn't think it could be done, with it being in all single pieces.

New haul! I never watched "Buffy" or "Angel" but I keep buying their figures as they are so much fun! Here we have "Ice Cream Xander". He comes with an ice cream cone, a scoop, a plate of crackers - and a single heart! (which I already used in the Ed in lab scene)
I also got this Muppets popcorn stand. It may come in handy on a fair or maybe the Gotham circus (if we ever get a Jerome figure)
