Old Barry used to fight young Abra Cadabra, Young Savatar, and young Thawne.

They're all trying for an easy victory, back when the real Flash was still just a punk kid.

Point is, old Barry had to be very careful fighting young Savatar, young thawne and Young Abra cadabra, or they would never eventually head down stream to necessarily meddle with his childhood.

Old Barry must have thrown every fight, because he was afraid of collapsing the timeline or becoming a time remnant.

The actor who played Kadabra reminded me of Lin Manuel Miranda.

I liked how Iris convinced Barry that the price to pay was too high to make a deal with Kadabra. Needless to say, it was Joe and Barry who couldn't bear the thought that handing Kadabra over to Gypsy could mean not saving Iris' life. Well, it was Joe's actions that led the villain to get away the first time.

The chase scene was silly. It reminded me of the motorcycle chase from a previous episode wherein Wally and Barry could've outrun it but didn't. The same was true with the timeship. It always appears that Flash is running at supersonic speeds but has a hard time catching a running or flying object.

I'm not even sure old Barry ever fought Thawne in this reality. Thawne faced a Barry who became the Flash in 2020. That might mean future Barry never has to fight Thawne. Alternatively, he might be destined to fight yet another time remnant Thawne.

I liked the episode but the lack of Savitar reveal is starting to piss me off. You advertise a big reveal and then don't deliver, and now we have 5 episodes left. Also the Killer Frost thing wasn't as affecting to me as I would have liked. I've seen it describes as the Laurel Lance syndrome and that is a pretty apt comparison. I am looking forward to seeing Killer Frost in all her evil glory though.

Also that chase scene might have been illogical, but it was some of the coolest effects we've seen in a while.

Thawne/Wells, who is still Thawne on Legends, because on the moon he reminisced about missing Cisco last week, is from the old future where Nora Allen lived.

Abra Cadabra has been in the past for longer than 3 years, but is from a Future where historically Iris dies, but only because Nora died First.

Yes, he is must be talking about a different Thawne.

UNLESS... Old Thawne/Wells returns to the Future, sidelines his younger alternate, and has a do-over in the future fighting old Barry, and that is who Abra Cadabra is talking about.

    UM.

    Stopping Abra Cadabra is easy.

All you have to do is kill Iris.

His personal time line unravels, just like Thawne's did when Eddie offed himself.

That is what Cat Grant wanted to call him when he first appeared in National City. He was also referred to as "the Blur" by a couple of characters in "Going Rogue," Snart's debut episode, although he was publicly known as "the Streak" at the time.

Then it's appropriate that Joe's girlfriend mentioned having Hamilton tickets.

I'd say it was at least as much Gypsy's fault. Joe had him covered until Gypsy barged in.

Well, when they're running in the city streets, it makes sense that they'd have to run slower than their peak speed in order to avoid cars, pedestrians, etc., and to avoid creating dangerously strong gusts of wind that could hurt people or damage property. So really, what's more implausible are the "race" scenes in recent episodes where they've been speeding through the city streets at top speed. Maybe the difference is that in those cases, they aren't focusing on anything but their movement through their surroundings, but in chase sequences, they have to focus on the vehicle they're chasing as well, which divides their attention and requires them to go slower to avoid accidents.

They didn't advertise that Savitar's identity would be revealed, just that Kadabra would tempt the Flash with the information. So they delivered exactly what they promised.

I actually liked this episode a lot. Kadabra was well cast, and compelling.

The reality is, Caitlyn is Killer Frost, and they are doing what needs to be done with the character. It's a shame they created such a likeable character but then again, that makes her going bad that much more tragic.

I just wish Ronnie Raymond were alive on the show so that we could get the original Firestorm given his history with Killer Frost.

That said, I was thinking that once the necklace was ripped off, and her heart started again, and they saw her heal, why not just put the necklace back on? And how did it even work, since Malfoy was leaning on her WITH the necklace in his hand?

    Overall a great episode:
    - Jesse Martin did a great job in his two big scenes. He really showed the anger a father would have if his daughter were in danger. The scene between Joe West and Gypsy was particularly good IMO.
    - Abra Kadabra was a menacing and strong villain.
    - Fun action sequence. Barry phasing in mid air through the time ship was really cool. He is definitely becoming a stronger Flash.
    - Killer Frost!!!!

Next episode looks really good too. I always like episodes where a character sees their future because of the possibilities for character development.

Given how much the producers like the 1990 series, I wonder if there will be any homages to "Fast Forward," the episode where John Wesley Shipp's Flash was blown 10 years forward into a dystopian future resulting from his disappearance.

That is very possible. The abandoned building in the promo has a dystopian vibe. It seems very likely that Barry is going to see what the future looks like after Iris dies. His future self became distraught and gave up being the flash, the team probably disbanded and abandoned Star Labs. And as a result, with no flash to protect it, Central City might have gotten overrun by villains.

That was a good episode, some nice character moments, entertaining villain and a fun chase sequence, for all the stuff going on I didn't even notice HR was missing until he showed up at the end. :D

Just... wasn't everybody slightly too OK with taking Cadabra away to be executed? They made a big deal of Flash not killing recently, but how is this now suddenly totally acceptable? Why didn't anybody even bother to suggest they just keep him in the meta prison?

Me neither. For the whole episode, I did not even notice his absence but when he showed up, he annoyed me again. The show does just fine without him if you ask me.

Well, he did commit several murders on Earth-19. And Team Flash cannot really object to the criminal justice on another Earth without causing a lot of tension and problems. If they had refused to turn Abra Kadabra over to Gypsy, they would have made her into an enemy.

Yeah... I'm not happy with any justice system that uses capital punishment, but Gypsy did have jurisdiction by the laws of her Earth. There wasn't really much they could do about it.

I mean, at least Gypsy has the backing of her world's legal system. That doesn't go for the various killings committed by Oliver Queen, Sara Lance, John Diggle, Dinah Drake, etc. on Arrow.

I suppose that makes sense. I wonder if there's any way the speedsters can suppress the gusty wind effect while they're running. One way for this to happen would be for Barry and Wally to phaseshift while running so that they're not in a completely solid state.

One unwritten rule of sci-fi physics is that "out of phase" characters always have enough air to breathe, talk, and hear. This may be related to the physics that keeps them from sinking through the floor.

And you gotta love how when she 'self-healed' as Killer Frost, the stitch thread and staples magically dissipated too. ;)

The transition to evil is instant?

    Is there an explanation?

Second personality, or is her right temporo-parietal junction numbed by the cold?

Sounds plausible, except that it flies in the face of what the show literally just established as the already existing history of the future. Savitar 'broke' Barry, but Barry still defeated him and many others and continued to fight supervillains for years if not decades. If Iris' death drove Barry to give up, Abra Kabadra would never have even heard the name 'The Flash'.
