Should Voyager have done a mirror universe story?

You couldn't have done an episode with the set up of DS9. So either different timeline permutation or bust.

I don't see that happening. The Mirror Universe story is set in the Alpha Quadrant. Unless the Voyager crew were in the Alpha Quadrant at the time.

The closest they came to having a mirror universe story were Season Two's "Non-Sequitur" and Season Four's "Living Witness".

No there's not. Marvel is a great example of this fact.
    Very enjoyable read.

I personally have always found the MU quite interesting, and with the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance broken, I could see humanity rising again, creating its empire with its sights set on other quadrants. Empress Kes sees this new power with her telepathy and requests an audience. Only, it's a betrayal and the Empire sends Maquis death fighters to teach the upstart a lesson.

    No!

The mirror universe stories were already overdone.

It could have been fun to see one. i always enjoyed the mirror episodes on DS9, especially the one with Rom and Quark and Rom talking about how everything was "alternate"

Why couldn't they do an MU timeline permutation with the Terran warship Voyager is lost in the Delta Quadrant-in other words my idea.

It wouldn't be that difficult and wouldn't be bound by DS9's MU setup.

Living Witness is one of my faves. When I watch it, I sometimes do fantasize about the crew being from the Mirror Universe. They are so ruthless... sneering, mean faces and underhandedness.

I'm kind of glad they didn't. Tbh, I think the mirror universe was a gimmick that had outstayed it's welcome by the end of DS9.

That said, the only real way it'd work is as a kind of 'side-story' to the DS9 mirror episodes. We already know that Tuvok, at least, has got an established presence in that mirror-verse. So if nothing else it'd be a good excuse for a crossover episode, maybe combining members of both casts.

The depiction of Captain Janeway and some of the other officers in the episode Author, Author made me think of the Mirror Universe.

Yes, Janeway has the Mullet in both "Living Witness" and "Author, Author."

What's really funny about this is that, in Living Witness, the Doctor gets really offended and corrects all the historical errors in Quarren's simulation, but in Author, Author, it's the Doctor who makes the characters in his holonovel almost exactly the same.

Absolutely agreed. "Living Witness" imagining a fake depiction of a treacherous "dark" Voyager crew was good enough!

In LW, it's the backup copy of the doctor who is now in the 31st century and completely separated from Voyager. He's indignant because they believe this is the true history of what happened.

Voyager's copy knows nothing of this; it hasn't happened yet, and not to him. In A,A, the crew are concerned that people might think the novel is more factually based than it is, even though that was never his intention.

But yeah, neat irony. Wonder if they hear of it and try (with no basis) to launch a copyright suit against him?

I'm generally in favor of MU stories, and think the next Kelvinverse movie should definitely be one. That said, I don't think there'd be much point to a Voyager MU story unless it took place in the Alpha Quadrant, as the whole point of such tales is to contrast with the normal, and there should theoretically be no "normal" in the DQ.

But now I want to check out "Living Witness", as I'm not sure I ever saw it. :bolian:

Couldn't they justify such a story by saying its a timeline permutation where the TE never falls? Yet still having it under the MU label?
