So, I was scouring through Google's image search and found out that the Carolina I made on and off for the past years is a design from before 2007.

No, I did not decide to take the easy route. That would literally have been too easy.

Instead, I kept searching. First I came across some of Atolm's designs; whilst fun, I wasn't sure I could finish those within the time frame. Saved, and in the box "another time perhaps". The Ship Schematics Database gave me a headache, is it has been doing every time I visit it (god, I really, really dislike most of the designs there). And then I remembered: good old Ex Astris Scientia! And through there, the Starfleet Museum:

Ah, the Paris class by our own old faithful Masao. Even after al this time, EAS comes to the rescue! After making sure that the design fit the contest parameters, I went to work. Here's what I have after a day's work (aft view in the gallery):

I salvaged the nacelles from my Carolina and scaled them down. The navigational lights and phaser turret emplacement are from her as well, but kept the same. I tried to transplant the bridge too but that will need some editing to fit the shape and size. I'll post a size comparison soon.

Good gods! You don't hang around, do you?! Your Paris is looking very sleek - love the nacelles (I don't think I've seen your Carolina).
I still have no idea what I'm going to do...

    "'Old' faithful Masao"? Old?!?

By the way, "BorgMan" confirmed with me that this design is from 2002. So, the design is old, but I was (sort of) young when I did it!

Yeah man. You're an old faithful of the boards, you predate my registration by three years!

Cyfa, you can find my version of the Carolina here :-)

    The nacelles do look nice.

    Any other plans Masao?

    - Thanks for the link. The Carolina is impressive - it reminds me of an old steam locomotive mashed up with one of those massive Japanese mecha suits (Gundam Wing, or the like).
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your reimagining of the Paris.

    Thanks guys!

Here's the bridge. I went with the old captain's chair I had lying around. And I reallised after rendering that it misses some lights. But that's for the next update...

Personally, that would bug the hell out of me as captain to have people walking in right behind where I'm sitting all the time.

An unfortunate side effect of having such a small ship. But with such a small crew, I think bridge shifts are done on the whole without much rotation in between.

I botched up again. Somehow, the overhead light got depainted when I merged the models. But oh well, nothing bad. It does make me realize, though, that the corridor lights are nearly not as strong as I want them to be. That needs to be addressed...

I used Calamity_si's chairs for a bit to see how it all pans out. Enough space I'd say :-)

From this angle the captain's chair looks really close to whoever that guy is going to be sitting in front of him. Does the captain give haircuts?

Wooaah it's done! Don't you just hate it when you need to wait for your renderer to finish?
