The Meteora (Literally meaning “Of the Sky”) Class was put into service shortly after the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole, designed for long distance scouting missions and first contact with new species, it was tasked with mapping the newly discovered Gamma quadrant.
By itself, it looks awesome. But the design looks Pre-TNG era. It appears to have elements from the TOS Movie era and E-C's day.
Remember these ships were a variant of the Oberth class which were still in service and being built during the TNG/DS9 era
Yes, they did, as a variant of the Oberth, During TNG/DS9 era.. I don't get the confusion? It's obvious it's an Oberth Variant.. lol
The concept and the front facing shuttle bay are excellent. Maybe do it with Sovereign style nacelles. I get it that the Sovereign style may not have been available in the year these were commissioned; in which case, maybe round of the nacelles more, or may their shape more reminiscent of the secondary hull. Overall, it's the large flats and sharp 90 degree angles of the warp nacelles that look off to me; otherwise this is great!
Because the Oberth came out 80 years earlier? Our Navy(ies) don't make variants of ship classes that came out before World War Two, do they?
*Constitution I love this design. I've always been bothered that there wasn't really a way to access the secondary hull on the Oberth class.
