If that was the case, the 2009 movie wouldn't have had sequels with all the bitching after it. The studio listens to the most reasonable feedback as anyone else should. And they know enough of the fanbase does support them and look forward to new productions.

Discovery has had plenty of support and positive feedback, season 1 is already paid for. Season 2 they could stand to reduce the cost a little and still make profit. So I wouldn't worry, the show will get at least 2-3 years regardless of the same portion of the fandom having to resort to hyperbolic pessimistic rhetoric all the time.

I think we've crossed wires, I was talking about TOS.

Their casting choices are ok to good for me so far(including the 3 new Shenzou ones). Storytellers I don't know and I'll only find out after I see their work on the series. Interior design and CGI look ok or better.. Not sure about make-up department though. Kinda Meh so far, but with a very tiny sample(having said that, there seem to be other Aliens in the "klingons" pic and they look ok for generic ones - btw I also didn't like their suits either. Hope it does look much better and maybe that was a really bad photo that made them look hideous in all aspects).

CBS is going to look at the pile of money they have already made, look at the whining fringe, and remember that no one hates Star Trek more than a certain faction of Star Trek 'fans'

I'm neutral about it right now. I like the main star casting with Sonequa Martin-Green, and I like the inclusion of Sarek (and James Frain), but I'm not sure what is going on with the "Klingons" and I would like to see more of uniforms, ships, cast, and premise before I can really judge it.

I'm still going to wait for the aired broadcast of the episode premier. It's really going to have to just completely blow me away to pay for that asinine CBS streaming though. I really do not want to pay a monthly service fee which only has one show that I'll watch.

Here is Australia I've just discovered that you can add discovery to your list of shows on netflix. So pretty bloody excited.

Confidence growing like the Klingons' craniums.
Still devastated about Fuller, but am excited for more Trek.

More excited as time passes. I'll be honest, some of the aesthetic choices so far haven't captivated me, i think the ship's ugly and the possibly-Klingons look a bit overdone and cartoony (although that could be said of any era Klingons). But I'm getting positive vibes from the writing team, they're saying all the right things, I'm pleased they're branching out and doing something different from nineties Trek, and I trust them to turn out a good story which is the most important thing.
I can't wait to see it all come together :)

My expectations are hopeful, but warm. Having read the casting choices, listened to the writers and showrunners, and seen some of the work put into the show so far, all I can say is that short of them taking a horrendous misstep right out of the gate, like if they were to have Axl Rose sing the show's theme song, I'm probably going to like the series.

My confidence level in the production has dropped considerably, I'm sad to say. I'll give it a shot and give it a chance to wow me, but there is enough good stuff on TV these days that I don't need to watch shoddy Trek, if that is how it turns out.

I understand that the new show isn't going to look like a 1968 production. But if they claim they are going to set the show in the prime universe in the TOS era, then even the upgraded look needs to hearken back to that in meaningful ways, otherwise what's the point? Right now we have a few pictures, a couple of early CG concepts, and a planet full of rumor and speculation. The delays and staff shake-ups do not give me a warm fuzzy. We'll see what the finished product looks and feels like, both in terms of production value and story. I think the idea of serialized, 'modern-TV' Trek is fantastic- but it needs to be executed well. So far nothing I've seen stimulates my sense of 'Trek' or encourages me.

I think the most accurate thing I can say right now is that my expectations are in the basement, but I'm still hopeful.

If it rocks, I'll be a staunch fan and I'll watch. If not, I won't have to tune in for lack of other TV shows to watch.

I've still not heard anything to make me excited for the show and the constant delays haven't filled me with much hope. I remember Voyager being the first Star Trek show I saw from pilot onwards (caught TOS, TNG & DS9 thru reruns on BBC 2) and I was excited for Enterprise but I just can't feel the same for Discovery. Hopefully we will get a kick ass promo campaign before the show launches but I still come back to the hideous, weird angle looking, obese tank in the sky (USS Discovery) that we saw in that awful cheap ass Windows 98 Movie Maker esq CG video.

The casting has been great overall and this bodes really well for the show. Would love to have Fuller still leading the show as he really seems to understand Trek but there are a lot of original Trek people involved that I think they won't stray too far from what Fuller had in mind. CBS also seems to be aware of how important getting this right is so the delays to the premier at least tells me they aren't willing to rush it. I guess their online streaming strategy is very dependent on this show... Am hugely excited; it's been a long road...

I just saw the first episode....it was terrible. Some god-like figure yells at the captain that humanity is doomed, the first officer is a clueless nerd and the prime minister of some planet or another is corrupt. For bonus points, a space station is actually an alien!
Total 80's camp. Forget it and move on.

Did the French captain surrender the ship in the first hour of the new series? :p

Funny, it did, now that you mention it - and the incompetent exec nearly broke it trying to put it back together!

With all the shake-ups and delays my confidence level is somewhere between shaky and freaking out, man. Waiting and wondering sucks but hopefully it will be worth it.
