There isn't much to say about that teaser. I hope Bill isn't another part time companion, but I question whether Moffat even remembers another type of companion at this point :shifty: Still, with her only being a one series companion (apparently), at least Bill won't be another irritating "impossible girl", and even just having a normal person as a companion, part time or not, will be an improvement over Clara. Series 10 can't start soon enough for me.

That would make sense and I hope you're right.

Heh, I can definitely see that as well.

Another largely meh teaser, although seeing the Doctor, Bill and Nardole doing a slow-motion walk is kind of cool.

Still don't like Bill so far, even if I've only seen her in trailers. Combined with Matt Lucas and the increasingly light direction Capaldi's taking, series 10 looks like it could be one of the sillier ones, which is a shame. I guess we'll have to wait and see though

While I don't really agree that the series looks "lighter" based on trailers, I'd be fine with that. After all of the drama with Clara over the last few seasons, with boring junk like Danny Pink and Clara the undead girl, having a series with a bit of lightness and without any approaching gloom or boring personal drama would be a welcome relief. Not that it shouldn't have heavy moments, but a bit of a lighter Series overall wouldn't be too bad in my opinion.

I'd be fine if they didn't make every episode about death like they did in season 9. That was just depressing, and the way they did it was so horribly unsubtle. A neon sign constantly present in each scene saying "PEOPLE DIE CLARA WILL DIE" would have had more subtlety to it. Even a typical episode of The Walking Dead manages to be more uplifting than the typical Doctor Who episode in season 9 was. Even nu BSG didn't leave me as depressed during an episode than season 9 did.

I thought Series 9 was ok and a huge improvement over series 8, but it was way too depressing at times. To be fair I'd have been more forgiving of that if I didn't feel a lot of the depressing stuff wasn't done well, but regardless having less of it in Series 10 would be fine with me.

I find both 8 and 9 largely watchable because of Capaldi, but very uneven in terms of writing. The arcs in both are rubbish, especially in 9 - despite the latter having better stand-alone eps (and two-parters, no less!). I hate Hell Sent, with a passion.

Yeah, capaldi is always good. but, for me, the Clara/Danny stuff killed Series 8. It had some good episodes, but overall was probably the worst series of NuWho in my opinion. Comparing the seasons by listing episodes I liked:

    Series 8:
    Deep Breath
    Into the Dalek
Time Heist (My favorite episode of the season)
    Mummy on the Orient Express

    Series 9:
    The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar
    Under the Lake/Before the Flood
The Girl Who Died/The woman who Lived
Sleep No More (borderline, but its decent enough)
Heaven Sent (This season's best episode)/Hell Bent (not that bad, I absolutely loved having the Timelords finally return and while I wish Clara was killed off, as long as she stays gone I don't really care why she's gone)
    The Husbands of River Song

Series 9 was a big improvement in my opinion. Even the story I really loathed from series 9 (the Zygon Two parter) didn't piss me off as much as parts of series 8 did. I'm hoping Series 10 ends Capaldi's era well, and surpaces Series 9 in every way. but, even if we just get a comparable number of good episodes, I'll be ok with that.

Back on the main topic, do we know if they're going to do another series of two parters with Series 10? I hope they don't, I prefer individual episodes most of the time even if Series 9 had several good two parters

For sure, Capaldi's performance is awesome and elevates some dire to mediocre writing. In fact, the only episode from season 9 I have re-watched is Heaven Sent, the Capaldi solo episode. Again, as far as writing goes there's nothing great about that one, but Capaldi really shines in this episode and makes it somewhat enjoyable.
Nothing's really been officially stated aside from how many writers are involved in the seasons, which, IIRC there's nine, which would suggest the episodes are mostly individual, as that would be enough for eight individual episodes by individual writers, and four by Moffat. Moffat's four might be two two-parters, a two-part premiere and two-part finale, but that's just speculation.

That would be nice. I'm not against two parters, but I didn't really like them taking up the majority of Series 9, even if I liked most of the stories.

People are claiming they can see McGann in that big collage at the end...

When have people not seen McGann in something? And it turned out to be nothing but wishful thinking? :)

That said, if Capaldi said to Moffat, "I want to do a Doctor team-up/runaround before I go," I wouldn't be opposed to one. :)

Yep, Paul McGann is always returning. Actually, this probably did help in keeping Night of the Doctor the surprise it was. There were rumours back in the spring of 2013 that Paul McGann was going to do a webisode showing his regeneration for the anniversary, and most of us wrote it off as "oh great, this year's Paul McGann rumour."

Fans will always see what they want to see.

I assume the figure they're referring to is the one on the middle right. It has the vaguest of similarities to Paul McGann, if you squint really hard.

But why would The Eighth Doctor be among the hordes of monsters (which include Cybermen and Ice Warriors)?

    Ah, accursed logic.

Why not? Half fandom does seem to be clamoring for more Valeyard anyway. Two birds with one stone.

What about the half that wants the Rani? Won't someone think about them?!

Then it's obvious: The Eighth Doctor, The Rani and The Valeyard are all the same person!!
