Has it grown on me? Only in the sense of that nasty scratch I accidentally put in my dining room table that at first really bothered me, but I've grown to live with.

I really enjoy the theme song, I never understood how some got bent out of shape over it. Sure, it isn't like the other series but it fits the optimistic message of Star Trek.

It just doesn't fit for me. It has this corny 80s sitcom feel to it. Star Trek has been always been about some grande endeavour. The intro music has always felt epic. The pop song they used is something you'd expect from a Rocky movie, it's fun and uplifting, but not epic. The orchestral music gives you that epic feeling when you've got like 40 instruments speaking in one voice, where as the pop song, you just have that one voice. Star Trek has always been about Mankind's journey and the epic orchestral music reflected that. FOH feels like it's just one man's journey.

Had "Faith of the Heart" been put to a popular vote, amongst Trekkies, would it have stood a chance?

I initially hated the song simply because it was a song for a Trek theme.

After that and getting used to the fact the show blew, I was able to recognize the song is good. There's nothing particularly wrong with the song ... as it is. For an opening Star Trek series theme, it was and still is a terrible fucking idea.

I didn't like the revamped version as increasing the tempo, to me at least, loaded the gun for the critics who felt it was cheesy. But the original I actually liked in a guilty-pleasure kind of way and I even downloaded the full-length song some time ago. Turns out the ideal length for that song is the shortened version used for Enterprise as the whole song dragged a bit without the Enterprise titles to watch!

I like the sped up version they used in the latter seasons.

The images for the ENTERPRISE title sequence were great, and I thought was perfect for the show. The song, however, no. I have always felt STAR TREK, and science fiction in general, should be more orchestral and grand... almost operatic without the lyrics.

It was the same issue I had with the selection of songs used at the end of STARGATE UNIVERSE episodes, or during montages. Too emo for my taste, and to be honest, somewhat lazy of the musicians... instead of composing a score that would work for the scene, just pay a royalty for someone else's work and slap it in there.

And anytime ENTERPRISE comes on, I just mute the tv and watch until the theme is over, unmute, and resume as normal.

Except for the "IN A MIRROR, DARKLY" two parter... LOVED that music AND the scenes. Right on the nose with those two episodes.

Hated it then, hate it now. Stunning that they stuck with it for four years.

Faith of the Heart is obviously the greatest song of all time to anyone who has ears.

I remember listening to it on the road to college and it bringing a smile to my face-it's just so uplifting and heartfelt. I love it.

You must embrace the "heart." It may take a few episodes, but you will adapt. After that, everytime you watch Enterprise, you'll now get warm fuzzies whenever the opening credits roll.

They should have gotten Shatner to do a spoken word version.

Or how about Leonard Nimoy? They could go all out and have a music video where he dances with hot teeny boppers.

It's heinous. On the rare occasion I watch an Enterprise episode, every housemate I've ever had has laughed at the song. It's quite embarrasing.

Conversely, the visual aspect of the opening title sequencei s marvellous.

Don't deny your "heart." There's no need to be ashamed. Each one of your friends secretly gets warm fuzzies too, when it comes on. They just don't want to get made fun of.

Now THAT would be the best song ever.
