Manuals - especially with high production values - are a niche product now, meant for limited Collector's Edition runs. Which is what all physical media will be at a certain point.

Is it really a big deal? As long as they implement it at some point.

The Virtual Console wasn't available at launch for either the 3DS or Wii U. It's not a big deal.

The WiiU had a rather paltry selection of games anyways. If Nintendo can't get a better line up for the Switch VC, than I'm not really bothered by the lack of it at this point.

Honestly, I think they're holding it back so they can tie it into paid online in some way.

Virtual Console would add some life to the Switch while it is building its library. People are liable to play a few launch titles, then these things will be flooding secondary markets.

I think it will have a lot of support from Indie developers. That will hold people over till Nintendo can fill in the gaps with games.

Several sites have reported some issues with inputs from the JoyCons intermittently lagging when using them not attached to the system (ie. when the Switch is docked) in some situations. Andre at GameXplain did some testing (video below) and it appears to be a matter of the signal strength just being weak.

From personal experience playing the Switch at PAX South, I didn't run into any problems, but I was standing/sitting only a couple feet away from the system at the most. These problems seem to be from people now using it in a more traditional gaming setup with the system sitting near the TV several feet away.

Disappointing, but hopefully this is something they can fix with a firmware update maybe to boost the JoyCon signal strength. Dunno how feasible that is though.

Firmware can only do so much if the actual radio transmitters are weak. Sounds like a hardware issue and weak signal so maybe a boosted transmitter, or better reception system in the console.

We'll have to wait and see what happens when the Switch launches next week and 2 million people are using the JoyCons. I'm just glad that I didn't pre-order the Switch.

I just read about this too. I wonder if the Bluetooth signal is weak because Nintendo was trying to prolong the charge for as long as they can (it's been reported they have up to a 20 hour charge).

Maybe they can update it to boos the Bluetooth signal therefore lowering the charge somewhat? I'd gladly play with less of a charge if the controller would actually work.

I still think it's really funny they got him to promote it.

Despite using my man, John Cena...still not buying one Nintendo

That is a joke and if widespread with no quick fix come launch, would do seriously damage to the brand.

Worst case scenario is that the JoyCons aren't fixable with a software update and Nintendo is forced to ship replacement JoyCons to the 2 million people who bought the system at launch. Yeah, it would suck for Nintendo, but if the Xbox 360 could thrive despite the RROD fiasco then a semi-faulty controller is hardly going to be a blip on the radar.

After watching the Game Explain video on this issue, I watched this video too, where he goes into the hows and why's in a little more detail:

Also I was talking to a friend about it last night. Since it's not an issue at all when the joycons are connected to the Switch, it's just a distance issue because of the weak signal strength. Does that make it ok? Of course not, but I play close to the tv anyways so I don't think this will be much of an issue with me, but I know others play farther away so I can see them running into it.

I'm curious if this weak signal strength problem is going to affect the Pro Controller to?

I've been reading the NeoGAF thread about the issue and some people are speculating (because that's all anyone can really do at this point) that the JoyCons might be getting stuck in a low-power mode when disconnected from the Switch itself. I can see the logic behind that thought - the JoyCons wouldn't need a lot of power if they are directly attached to the Switch, so turn down the signal strength and save some battery life. Not saying it's the actual cause, but it could be a possibility.

I wasn't going out of my way to find an article that said this, but the first article I came across the writer said he had to work really hard to duplicate the problem:

    Full article here.

You read NeoGAF? I'm sorry ;) I hear that place is hating pretty hard on this problem right now. I've actually given up on Gamefaqs for the time being, just because you can't go very far into a discussion without someone showing up to troll.

 Yeah, it can be pretty depressing at times, but that's the internet for you. :p

    Few other bits of news:
    - Snipperclips is now a launch day game, eShop only (no retail release)
    - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild previews have been going up all day and seem positive (that might be an understatement)
