Annoying that the last two episodes a characters "surprise" reappearance in the final seconds of the episode is spoiled due to the actors name being in the opening guest credits.

I've never really cared for Grodd as a villain. Just no interest for me. Having said that there were a lot of good character moments in the episode.

I couldn't believe how easily Grodd duped the team into thinking Solovar wanted to invade Earth-1, but it was Grodd's plan all along. I mean, the conversation didn't even present itself, like "Hey Solovar, I hear you want to conquer our Earth, is that right?" "Huh? Lies! What has this fool Grodd been telling you?"

Other than that, I thought it was a decent episode. They made it sound more epic than it actually was. I'm curious to find out how Grodd managed to get Gypsy from her own world. Or did she just happen to be on Earth-2?

I'm continuing to like the dynamic between Caitlyn and Julian. She deserves to be happy with someone.

It was funny seeing Julian so interested in visiting Planet of the Apes (as the actor was in one of those movies).

When team flash first arrived on Earth-2, why didn't Flash immediately use his speed to zip into Gorilla City to find Wells? He could have been in and out before the Gorillas knew what happened. Instead, everyone just walks as slow as possible through the jungle and naturally gets caught. I think it would have been better if Flash had run super fast into the city and got caught because of the dampening field and then the rest of the team gets captured. That way, Flash at least tried but got outsmarted. The way they did it just made the team look like sitting ducks. Other than that, it was a neat episode. For a TV budget, the show did a good job with Gorilla City. The arena fight was super cool. Reminded me of the fight between Kirk and the Gorn. The Flash's speech about peace was very Kirk too, very cool. It was nice seeing Jesse too. But H.R really is useless and annoying. I wish Gypsy had taken him back to his earth.

It happened in Supergirl too -- Peter Gadiot was listed in the credits of last week's episode, where he showed up in the final scene as Mxyzptlk.

Can't decide if Jesse not asking Wally to go with her to Earth-2 instead is a sign that they didn't wanna give away they're planning to move both of them there to keep the cast smaller, or that Earth-2 has a retro mentality to go along with the retro look where the woman must follow her man and his dream. :p

I actually would not be surprised if Wally goes to Earth-2 to be with Jesse. While it was nice to see Wally's arc becoming Kid Flash, I don't see him being a permanent main character because I think he gets in the way of the Flash. The show is called "The Flash" for a reason. Barry needs to be the main Flash hero on the show. Having 2 Flashes as main heroes would be odd.

I don't think there's anything that can be done about.

Can remember an JMS commented about it after a Babylon 5 ep reveal the fate of a character. He wanted to keep the surprise but the Actors Guild rules required that the actress's name go in the opening credits.

When Harry proposed sending Grodd to Earth-2 in the first place, didn't he say that Gorilla City was a place set up for gorillas that had been through similar experiments as Grodd?

Also, side note - Thawne wasn't the one who had the procedures performed on Grodd, that was Eiling. Thawne in fact tried to shield Grodd from Eiling, or at least to distance himself from the experiments and put on a front of caring for Grodd - whether because he knew damn well what Grodd would become and wanted him as an ally, or because even psychopaths have some limits (Thawne did seem to have a genuine hatred for the idea of Eiling's bias against metas, whether solely because it applied to HIM or a wider stance against anti-meta bigotry)...

Can't they make arrangements to put it at the end?

That's how Doctor Who handled the reveal of John Hurt as the War Doctor.

Admittedly, the British acting rules may be different.

But couldn't she just have gone uncredited (and unpaid) and they topped her pay up next ep? Or would that count as overpayment for the second ep?

Sometimes actors' credits are saved until the end in order to keep their appearance a surprise, but it requires their consent and special negotiation. Credits are determined by contract and are about how much actors get paid, rather than how much they appear. And normally, only the actors and staff members who get listed in the opening of a show ("above the line") get residuals from its reruns, home video sales, etc. So it's not a casual thing to move a credit to the end. It might mean waiving part of their normal compensation, or working out new contract language so that they don't need to waive it, or something. It can be done, but it depends on various factors.

It would also make more sense for Wally to go to Earth-2 because Earth-2 needs its heroes/Flashes more...better to have two over there than three on Earth-1 and none on Earth-2.

It would be a shame to lose them but that scenario makes sense. Plus gets them out of the way without tragedy and there's always the occasional visit to Earth-1.

Buffy and Angel seemed to the be the best in hiding names for the closing credits. Heck even Anthony Stewart Head's name was saved for the end in the next to last episode of Buffy season 6.

It's not just the actor's name in the credits. She was also featured heavily in the previously on, so the ending shock value was pretty low even before the episode actually started.
