Okay so I've heard that they planned to do a Voyager/Ds9 mirror crossover.

Supposedly there were remnants of the idea in the Emperor's New cloak with Vic being an Android and the doctor being an Android in living witness

And of course Tuvok made a token appearance in on the MU eps.

Was there a plan for an unified MU verse? Or what was the deal?

First I've heard about this, and a Google search turns up nothing.

There is no evidence of Vic being an android. There is another discussion about that on here somewhere...

I heard something to the effect it was going to be united(or at least in parallel) but DS9 took the mirror verse episodes a different direction.

Is there any source on any of this?

None at all; it sounds like whoever you heard that from was telling stories. I've never seen anything about Voyager's writers even considering a mirror universe episode.

You're the one who brought it up, so surely you'd know better than us. Where did you hear it?

As I already posted, a Google search turned up nothing. What's you source that you feel is trustworthy enough to start a thread on the matter to inquire further?

Somebody on the board said this, not to me and I don't remember the forum thread or poster but I was simply relaying it in this thread as to inquire regarding its truthfulness.

Mirror Fontaine was not an android. Hell, he probably wasn't even Vic.

(You'll notice nobody ever calls him by his first name... I prefer to think it's the mirror version of Felix, the programmer who "wrote" Vic)

As for "Living Witness": I do admit I like the idea of that episode taking place in a mirror universe. Notice how I said *A* mirror universe - obviously not the one we're familiar with, because in that one, there is no more Terran Empire and thus there can't be an ISS Voyager. So in my head-continuity, the Living Witness Voyager is from a variation of the MU where the Empire never fell.

Of course this doesn't explain the "backup EMH" but there's always ways around that.

In the beta canon there are a few references to timelines where the Terran empire never fell.

I suppose you could say the back up fell through a transdimensional portal and ended up in that MU, that would be why the federation hadn't reached the Kyrian home world. Or of course they were in the process of ascending. Anyway.

Even if the Vaskans & Kyrians existed in the "regular" universe they probably wouldn't qualify for Federation membership yet (because they didn't have a unified planetary government).

Based on that one scene in DS9 it seemed like it was supposed to be Vic's MU counterpart as a gag and he was human.\

I know it's our tendency as geeks to overthink things, but this is an issue that need not be overthought.

Considering that the only ideas there that were actually used on the show, #1 and #9, are so vague that anyone could've guessed something like them would've happened (maybe #6 in a really broad stretch, but that's such a jump from there to "Worst Case Scenario" that that had to be them getting lucky), I'm pretty sure that entire post must've been fake back at the time it was posted in 1997. Either someone made up an anonymous document story and posted it to the newsgroup, or someone made up a document and gave it to that person anonymously claiming falsely to be an inside source.

There is no credible source for a DS9/Voyager Mirror Universe crossover event ever having been planned, Voth. It was never really something they were working on, so there is no answer to your question.

I believe it was I. There was an episode of Trek.FM To The Journey podcast discussing unused story ideas where the mirror "crossover" concept was discussed. I suppose the only sure way to verify its authenticity or find out more, is to interview one of the writers/producers involved in Season 1/2/3 of Voyager. Or it's quite possible that such an interview already exists.

We can't know for sure, but Android is the most likely explanation. Vic Fontaine is a 20th century human in the Star Trek universe. He even performed with Sammy Davis Jr. So just picture a Frank Sinatra hologram on DS9, then he's there in the MU. As for no one calling him by his first name, here's the script:
EZRI: We'd better get moving. I've got a ship waiting for us at landing pad C.
    ROM: What's the rush?
EZRI: This is a rebel base and we're working for the Alliance.
    (Enter Vic Fontaine with guns.)
    ROM: Vic?
VIC: I thought you two were dead.
    ROM: We are!
    QUARK: You're not a hologram.
    VIC: A what?
(Bashir and rebels rush in, shooting.)
BASHIR: Throw put down your phasers, Fontaine!
VIC: I'll see you in hell first.
    (Bashir kills Vic.)
QUARK: I can't believe it. Julian just shot Vic Fontaine.
ROM: I thought Vic was his favourite singer. No wonder they call it the alternate universe.[/SIZE]

Since humans are slaves in the mirror universe, how would they ever have access to the technology and materials, plus the intellectual capacity, that's required to create an android?

As for people calling him Vic: Of course Rom would do that, because he's met the real Vic and thus assumed that this person who *looks* like Vic actually IS Vic. MU Bashir just calls him Fontaine...

As for Vic being a real 20th century human: That's only true within the context of the holographic environment in which Vic operates. There's no evidence that there was ever a "real" Vic Fontaine.

No, I'm sticking with the theory that "MU Vic" is actually Felix.

Oh, I dunno. It seems like a lot of these found their way into the show.

    1. “The Impervious” - the crew discovers another Starfleet ship in the
    Delta Quadrant.
-I assume you're thinking of "Equinox."

    3. “In Harm’s Way” - the crew is gradually drawn into a violent
planetary revolution. -That fits really well with the episode "Resistence," but I'm not sure that would fit in this timeframe, as it was mid-season 2.

    4. “Oblivion” - the crew discovers a wormhole that eventually turns into
    a blackhole.
    -"Bliss"

    7. “Cascade Clause” - a major Maquis mutiny rocks the entire ship after
Janeway relives both Chakotay and Torres of their duties.
-Now, I'm positive I've heard of the planned "Maquis Mutiny" episode. This was realized in "Worst Case Scenario." Number 10 may have found it's way here also.

    8. “The Privateers” - a group of daring alien mercenaries helps Voyager
out of a tight spot only to make impossible demands in return.
    -"Think Tank"

Yes, some of the ideas are vague, but that's just the nature of planning future episodes/seasons. The borg episode mentioned is "Unity" directed by Robbie McNeall. "Living Witness" has all the elements of an MU episode. It's a clever way for Voyager to have one while not just ignoring the storyline DS9 went with. Elements of number 11 and 15 have appeared in some episodes.

As a side note, I wish we could've gotten episodes based on number 2 & 13.

Are you saying that because Bashir calls him "Fontaine," that he doesn't carry the first name "Vic"? The author of the script calls him "Vic Fontaine" and "Vic."
Humans are no less capable in the MU, than they are normally. Jennifer Sisko was scientist constructing technology for the Alliance. Mirror O'brien built a Defiant! They built it simply with blueprints of the real one. They built a reliable trans-dimensional transporter.

Maybe Vic Fontaine was constructed by the androids in "I Mudd." Who knows, there's all sorts of androids in Star Trek.
