That's because the VGR novel got delayed because KMFB is busy working on DSC. but it is a bit surprising nothing was moved into the now-empty May slot.

It'd be a bit too early for this DRG3 Original Sin novel, isn't it?

Edit: Nevermind, it's scheduled for December, my bad.

Maybe not a whole year in advance, but IIRC usually by the end of February we know about the rest of the calendar year. Here we are just past the middle of February, and there's still three months we know nothing about.
That's a by-product of Kirsten Beyer's next Voyager novel being delayed. Originally, the Discovery TPB being scheduled in mid-May was supposed to make up for that, but with that delayed until the fall when the show premieres, well now we just have a month's gap.

Yeah. I liked when back in the days we got the schedule for basically the next 15-18 months at the Shore Leave convention. That was mainly a (Ordover?)/Marco/Krad thing, though, that some of the authors continued after Marco's departure. But these days there really isn't any information directly from the editor anymore with the exception of one time two or three years ago where Margaret did that podcast interview.

Ok. I was thinking they had only been announcing them 5 or 6 months in advance.

OT, but rereading what I wrote I guess I'm officially an old fart now throwing around "Back in the days". :guffaw:

Apologies, should have mentioned knowing re: the postponement of Architects of Infinity having to do with the "hole" in the spring Trek novel schedule. And that the Discovery novel #1 is being re-scheduled too. Was just wondering if Pocket Books will then let most of May "lie fallow", if so, guess that's too bad.

Yes that will be a dissapointment. I feel like things aren't going as smoothly on the editorial end of things lately as they could.

It's not that puzzling we don't have anything for the last few months yet. I think Prey wasn't announced untill april or may of last year. But I agree with the post above me, I would have expected something to replace the DIS novel by now

Prey was announced in August 2015 (although not full titles - that was by March 2016).

As far as a replacement for the DIS slot, my guess is that it is too late in the publishing cycle to slot something in that soon. Moving something up is unlikely - deadlines, printing schedules, and so forth will have been set some time ago. Even reprinting something like SCE would take some time - last time it happened (2010), seven months elapsed between knowing the Abrams books were off the slate and when the first reprint was released.

Yeah, I suspect that's the case. As mentioned above, at this point, it's just too late to get anything, even a re-print into that slot.
Honestly, I'm basing things on 2012, though I concede it may be a flawed idea to use the way things were five years ago as a precedent. Anyway, I remember a conversation with a friend at the end of February (or possibly the first week of March) in which we were discussing the blurbs for all three Cold Equations books.

Is the Discover book leaving a hole in the schedule? I thought it was a trade or hardcover that didn't take up a MMPB slot.

Yeah, but the VGR book for that month was also moved up, so if the DSC novel were still released in May it would at least be one Trek book a month.

It'd be nice if one of the empty months saw the last New Frontier novel (3 ebooks) collected as one, or maybe the long awaited Slings & Arrows collection.

Jinn I just wanted to ask you about David George's Original sin novel is it going to another DS9 novel or one of the other Trek series novels. I couldn't find it listed on Amazon.com yet. Any information about the new book would be greatly appreciated.

Weren't you involved in the conversation the other day about Dave the Thirds other book this year? Anyway, it's unknown if it's even a Trek book (although that looks likely) let alone Deep Space Nine or something else.
