Curious. I know that some involved have seen the new financials. I'm naturally sceptical due to.... well, everything we all know in this thread so I won't list all the reasons :p But curious to see how this goes and how it all matches up.

One of Alec's biggest problems is his mouth; there's been too much talking - both from the perspective of him not actually having made a fan film yet, and from giving out too many contradictory statements (and there will be more to come).

Silence should be his default, to protect himself more than anything. Unfortunately I think that ship has sailed and the interview will be another reassurance directed to those already on his side. more little digs don't help.

    Independent.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Far as I am aware, all they did was unfollow everyone they were following. Which they did not have to do – they could have accomplished the same thing (getting rid of too many email notifications, so far as I am aware, was the motivation) by simply adjusting their preferences.

But of course if you want to cherry pick out the 'haters' then you can delete everyone you're following.

As for deleting everything and starting from scratch, it looks like you need a tool like this: http://deletealltweets.com/connect.php?hl=en (I have never used that tool and never heard of it until Googling it just now, so I can't comment on its effectiveness).

They are currently (as of the writing of this post) following 88 accounts and are followed by 109k.

It works very well, for the record. Your tweet count remains, but all content is flushed out. I've done it before by accident when showing someone else how easy it was :(

Serious question to those of you who are either active in the fan film community or the "biz" in general....

Does someone's participation in Axanar at this point make you less likely you you hire them for a project?

There is this exchange in the comment of the article where Alec Peters gives his definition of independent via an email to Mr. Lane:

Unless proven otherwise, I will assume that in this case "independent" means "likely to cover up and/or sweep under the rug AP's spending". I am all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but he lost me a long time ago.

Good grief. At least no one who wields such flimsy, simplistic, self-serving thinking to contort words could ever wind up running this country. ... wait, what? Bartender, pour me another Tranya.

The leap in Alex's definition of independent is truly staggering. And I can't really see what he thinks he's achieving here. Those that are concerned about the Axanar finances have probably already seen what's happening via the court documents. Further shenanigans (to borrow a word) using a predictably NOT independent group of Alec's buddies aren't going to be convincing. Really it's just going to reaffirm to the faithful that Alec's on the up-and-up and they didn't need convincing.

Or does this mean neither set of financials Alec submitted to the court were correct and now we've got a new third set? Not exactly reassuring either.

It's pretty transparently an attempt to control the narrative before the unfiltered finances are released as part of the trial, but other than some amusement in seeing how he's tried to justify things I can't see it swaying opinion on either side.

On the flip side if Alec is entirely on the up-and-up and every penny has indeed been used for its intended purpose, it'll be *really* interesting to see how someone spends 1.4 million on a fan film and fail to produce anything.

This is an "independent" review like Axanar was an "approved independent" Star Trek production.

    Meaning, it isn't.

I have both sides' proposed jury instructions, plus a list of the stuff plaintiffs will show on video, and a proposed verdict (written by defense). Blog to follow, either today or tomorrow. Many thanks for your kind support.

The only way that review could be more "independent" is if Alec put the whole thing together himself.
