Yeah, I'd love to see the DCAU again, but it had a good run. Continuing to go back to that well would run the risk of repeating what happened to the Ben 10 franchise. (I think some would say that already happened.) Given the choice between more DCAU and a renewal of YJ, I'd take the latter.
On the other hand, if YJ had been written to fit within the DCAU ....

I'm thinking Netflix is probably the most likely place for it to air. The article on IGN did mention the popularity of the series on Netflix, so if the old episodes are that popular there it would make sense to put the new ones there too.

The only part of Ben 10 I really liked was the Glen Murakami/Dwayne McDuffie era (Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, particularly the former), when it was skewing toward an older audience. But I guess I was never in its primary target audience.

I think it's better as its own thing. It got to reinterpret the characters and the universe in its own way. Screen adaptations of comics are alternate realities to begin with, a chance for other creators to bring fresh perspectives to the comics' ideas, so I think it's good to have more than one such alternate reality and explore different angles. I'd be happy if the YJ revival led to spinoffs building a multi-series DC continuity in that universe, essentially a second DCAU to stand alongside the first, neither as a continuation nor a competitor but as a complement.

One problem, though: The YJ-verse (Earth-16) has character designs by Phil Bourassa, which makes it visually distinct from the DCAU -- but Bourassa is also the character designer on both the current direct-to-video Batman/Justice League universe based on The New 52 and on the Vixen series set in the Arrowverse. So that makes them all a bit too similar visually. I'd prefer it if they were more individualized in their design styles. The interesting thing that's happened to TV animation in the past quarter-century (at least 2D/"cel" animation) is that it's become more driven by distinctive art styles, more caricatured and stylized character designs and line/color uses that make different shows look a lot more distinct from each other, a lot harder to mistake for one another. But all the Bourassa DC stuff has a fairly similar aesthetic, and now that's across three different simultaneously ongoing universes.

My big question now if which cast members are returning? Hopefully they'll be able to at least get the main cast back.

Oh, it is. I'm merely envisioning a combination of the two as a sort of "Dream Team" (and wish fulfillment for getting more DCAU). But the fact is that the changes necessary to make YJ fit within the DCAU would also rip out half of what made YJ good. Maybe more.

Same here. As far as I was concerned it peaked during Alien Force. In the later years it had just enough spark to be watchable, but only just. It lost a lot.

I hope they can get all of them. It's generally easier to get people for voice work, because it takes less time and is easier to fit into a schedule, although sometimes there can be schedule conflicts with the recording dates (which is apparently why T.J. Miller reprises his movie role in Dreamworks Dragons but is being replaced in the Big Hero 6 TV series). And a lot of the YJ cast are people who do tons of voice work anyway -- Khary Payton, Jason Spisak, Danica McKellar, Crispin Freeman, Nolan North, Lacey Chabert, Yuri Lowenthal, Kevin Michael Richardson, Mae Whitman, etc.

When they did The New Batman Adventures, they brought back almost all of the original cast. The biggest change was Tara Strong (Tara Charendoff at the time) replacing Melissa Gilbert as Batgirl. Otherwise we had Liane Schirmer replacing Ingrid Oliu as Montoya, Mel Winkler replacing Brock Peters as Lucius Fox, Jeffrey Combs replacing Henry Polic II as Scarecrow (a great improvement), Brooks Gardner replacing Aron Kincaid as Killer Croc, and Laraine Newman replacing Alison LaPlaca as Baby Doll. So only two major players and a scattering of bit players. Although there were a few later recastings in Mystery of the Batwoman -- Eli Marienthal replacing Matthew Valencia as Tim Drake, David Ogden Stiers replacing Paul Williams as the Penguin, and Hector Elizondo replacing Henry Silva as Bane.

Let's not forget that, when "Justice League" came on, George Newbern replaced Tim Daly, who voiced Superman in his solo show. That, to me, was definitely not an improvement.

I think they were both reasonably good. And there were some other cast changes here and there -- Jennifer Hale taking over Zatanna and Inza, Oded Fehr taking over Dr. Fate, Ron Perlman taking over Orion, etc. My favorite one was that when they couldn't get Robert Forster back as Desaad, they went with Rene Auberjonois, who'd played Desaad in the '80s Super Powers Team cartoons.

Nice. I remember Weisman confirmed that some of the characters were LGBT on his forum, so glad to see he'll be able to follow up, it makes sense. Don't have a chance to try and look up if it was ever implied who that might be right now.

Tim maybe but Connor seems unlikely. It's been awhile but didn't S2 end with hints Connor and Megan might be getting back together?

I was thinking Impulse might be the one Weisman referred to.

Kaldur'ahm's counterpart in the comics is gay.

Tim and Cassie were also explictedly together as of Endgame. So Tim being gay is at least as unlikely as Conner being gay. Tho either could be bi.

I could potentially see Bart/Jaime tho. And Jackson Hyde (Kaldur'ahm's comic counterpart) is gay.

Yes, but that was something of a first, and as you say, it was ambiguous. Times have changed in the few years since YJ went off the air.

Is it bad nerd of me to admit I only just recently realized that Aqualad and Ezekiel were the same actor?
