Even if one were ignorant of so much else one only has to watch Forbidden Planet and know the film was released in 1956 (a decade before TOS) to know that Trek did not invent the miniskirt. Indeed TOS' outfit is actually a minidress or "miniskirt dress" given it is all one piece and that didn't originate on Trek either.

My mom actually mentioned that to me too when we watched it - and she said that style of minidress used to be called a "Sizzler"

I wonder how large an audience there'd be who would want much more. I said earlier in this thread that I wish I had heard more from Doug Drexler (I only saw the first hour or so, so maybe they did give him more time?). Now there's a guy with a perspective on Trek history like few others - he watched the first broadcasts of TOS as a kid, ran the "Federation Trading Post" in Manhattan in the '70s, wrote content for (and helped produce?) the "Star Trek Trek Poster Books" of the mid-late '70s, went out of his way to work on TNG (even though he must have had other opportunities available to him), worked on various series, designed (or helped design) the "NX" Enterprise, was on the team that restores the 11 footer, etc. etc. They should have put the camera on him and ran it for 2 hours while he said whatever came to his mind. I know I wouldn't have been able to tear myself away from that, but even *if* most people here would agree, it would represent a very small minority of potential viewers.

To be fair, you're judging something that you haven't watched. I did watch it and it isn't as bad as the impression you're being given.

I would recommend watching it and then judging based on your own knowledge.

    Best,

I seem to remember she was offered the part that went to Mulgrew. Just reading exposition over a view screen. Wouldn't have made much sense.

The way Jeri Ryan told it sounded like she was going to replace someone who had already been cast but I may have misheard.

Well I don't think they were trying to say Star Trek invented the miniskirt, as they pointed out it was already popular in the UK at the time, I think they were saying that Star Trek brought it to the US. Or maybe just US TV, I forget. Either way it seemed like a reach to even bring it up.

Marc Cushman likes to think that Star Trek is responsible for everything, hence this statement.

(thanks to @Maurice for the image)

That can be heard 53 seconds into the video below.

I'm hoping at some point people will start to realize what a fraud he is. He is tarnishing the history of Star Trek.

Donald Trump is a major party nominee. We seem to love frauds, to at least some degree. I really wish @Harvey would do a TOS book. It would be a day one purchase for me.

I watched it after I got home this morning. It was really awful.

I thought Paramount and CBS were going to do something official. But from what I gathered from other places, this is all there's going to be.

    Agreed.

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but was alerted that they'd stolen some fanart for it including one of mine.

I really lost interest in the second hour. I was hoping it would only take a 90-minute timeslot, but alas, it prattled on for a full two hours.

Takeaways: Jeri Ryan is still stunningly beautiful. And I say that as a gay dude... Not much else, really.

One day. Maybe. The day job and the fact that Mr. Cushman has saturated what's largely a niche market prevent anything from happening in the near future.

It's a Cash Markman twitter account. The link works for me.

It would be cool someday to see something deeper than the usual fluff before all the parties involved are all gone (though sadly probably already too late). However, I do like to watch these things just to see what all our old friends are up to and look like these days. So that said, I wish there had been even more cameos. Despite how much NASA's "mohawk guy" or whatever reminds me of Quinto or how much I like Bruce Campbell I wouldn't have minded seeing some more Trek people.

I edited their IMDb goofs to reflect them being used.

Was it the one that was mostly black and you could just see B'Ellanna's head and Miral being held? That one really stuck out to me as I watched it and was wondering about it, I thought it was a cool picture but it seemed kind of strange/artistic for a Voyager publicity still and I was wondering how they got that effect. I guess it was Photoshop though, if that's the one you're talking about that is.
