My wife is the same and when ever I plan on buying things which I may not really need, a lil Irish sounding voice will ask me if I need that.

I'm with @JonnyQuest037 in that I prefer the Diamond Select / Art Asylum line because they have more details, joints and realistic faces, but I do envy the wide range of the Playmates which has lots of characters and variants I don't have. And the playsets.

I couldn't resist getting the Galileo shuttlecraft that came with a Kirk figure.

As for playsets, just the other day I ordered the Mega Bloks bridge and transporter room set. At least something.

Damn it! Why did you have to put me on to these Star Trek Mega Bloks. Now I have to spend money I don't have!

Oops, sorry ;) But yeah, that was my reaction as well when I saw them. Came, saw, bought. All in one minute. Who needs money? Eating is so overrated.
What did you get? The playsets or rather the spaceships? I heard there is an Enterprise coming later this year.

Had the same thought. Currently have two spare Data figures ready for me to try it out. But, I'm the kind of person who it bother. I'd always know it wasn't the real deal, sending me into a spiral of despair and self loathing.

I'd love to do some characters they didn't do though.

You should try your hand at customizing. It's pretty easy to mix and match parts of the official figures. I really enjoy it. I've managed to crank out a slew of characters Playmates never made such as Weyoun, Dr. Selar, Lt. Valeris, Damar, General Martok, Commander Shelby, Kai Winn, Brunt and so on. I've also done a lot of variants of the characters Playmates did make in uniforms and outfits they didn't get round to like Deanna Troi in her cheerleader outfit, blue dress, Romulan disguise, etc., the rest of the TOS crew in their movie uniforms and the entire DS9 cast in the First Contact uniforms from the later seasons. It's great fun:lol:

So they never actually did that one? That was an action figure idea begging to happen!

I don't collect, but I have a collection. I jsut got what I wanted and skipped the rest. I think I missed one or two I wanted. Back then of course was before the internet and buying consisted of going to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Walgreens, Toys-R-Us, and even Kaybee Toys. And the now defunct chain, like a cross between K-Mart and Wal-Mart, Zales (you better believe it had "Ghostbusters" toys).

I was never satisfied with them in general. Riker's uniform was liek a darker shade of maroon and not like the bright red on television, so I painted his shirt, including covering up the stupid rip design they added. I also painted all their comm badges gold on the ovals, as well as silver pips and I painted Geordi's V.I.S.O.R. band gold (the part that was supposed to be, as well as two red dots at each end). And I had to do a lot of painting to the Enterprise D.

No they didn't. But I grew up in Eastern Germany with the attitude "What you can't buy, you have to make yourself". And so I did ;)

I wonder who will be the first one daring to rip a shirt from the expensive QMX figures!

Looking for 79 more figures to complete my collection. Not interested in the 6in FC, Starfleet Academy, or alternate Gen uniformed figures. Bulk missing are from TNG and some from VOY.

Need 2 more to complete TOS (Kirk as mobster and Kirk from WNHGB) and 2 for DS9 (Rom and Sisko as Klingon)!

Here are the TOS figures (Spock and Bones from TNG will be displayed with TNG figures)

Hi @HokieBT ...you're welcome to discuss your father's collection in terms that don't involve trying to sell it or find interested parties here. Solicitation isn't permitted on the Trek BBS.

    Thanks.

Hey guys, just wanted to update you on my 4.5"-5 Playmates figure collecting...I'm sure you've all been wondering...

I now need just TWO figures to complete the 4.5-5" Playmates set. TWO!!!!!!

They're proving a little hard to come by, with one being really expensive. But two to go...all my figures currently on display in the cabinet.

    I need;

    - Data (in red) from Redemption (that's the expensive one)
    - Kirk that was bundled only with the Galileo Shuttle
