I needed something a little different to work on the past few days so I went back and painted an update of a sketch I did years ago for a certain ship from one of my favorite Star Trek novels. Enjoy.
Unintentional design inspiration that just occurred to me: It looks like a baby sucking on a pacifier! Which totally fits, by the way.
Very cool design. Kinda makes me think of a cute little dog that is actually much more ferocious than it looks.
I'm reminded of the "boobied" ship John-Boy Walton flew in "Battle Beyond the Stars", just the overall silhouette. Sincerely, Bill
Ah yes, the Corsair, AKA Nell. One of the more, ahem, unique ship designs in cinematic history. If I have to be honest, though, this design draws more inspiration from one of the illustrations in Starfleet Spaceflight Chronology than anywhere else, though really, really, REALLY heavily modified and re-proportioned.
I LOVE this ship! I saved the sketch you first made some time back. Looks like someone took a shot at her and the repair crews did a slap-dash job of patching. *tsk* *tsk*
Awesome. I don't really care either, but I just am wondering. Wouldn't that registry number be too high for a TOS-looking craft?
My thoughts exactly. That's such an ugly, dumb looking ship that it's totally awesome! Quite realistic. Not every real ship or plane is a work of art.
I like it. The top evokes a machinery feel, like the cab of a John Deere harvester (sans the yellow and green, of course. ) It's stance of those legs immediately brought to mind Silent Running's Huey, Dewey and Louie.
