Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion and

TheVortaKeevan

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I'm looking to purchase this book mainly for the Dominion story line? How is it? Is worth buying? I know the book focus mainly on the Founders, but does the story go into some detail with the Vorta and the Jem'Hadar?

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

A certain Vorta and a certain Jem' Hadar and Odo and another changeling are the protagonists. The story is going to leave you somewhat in the dark as to what happened to the Dominion, because the Dominion has only played a minor role in the upcoming novels.

Further down someone as already asked about further plans involving the Dominion....

I read that book a couple of months ago, and its worth reading. It is partly setup for the subsequent DS9 novels, though.

I was hoping to read some positive comments that would make me overlook the price of the book. :rommie:

I don't know if I want to pay 21.99 for it. :sigh:

I have both the original and the German editions. The Germans pulished each story in a small paperback. The Dominion paparback edition is not even available anymore on Amazon.de. Maybe you should take a look at what ebay has to offer. Or to pick the ebook version if there is one....

Don't know if its any good to you, but the kindle edition is much cheaper.

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

If you're reading the rest of the DS9 Relaunch, then you need to read it, it is very important to the overall arc. If you are just reading it by itself, then I really can't judge because it's hard for me to separate it from the rest of the series.

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

Be sure you have a copy of Warpath on standby for after the Dominion story.

It's INTENSE!

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

Definitely, it ends on a huge cliffhanger. It was a hell of a wait for those of us who couldn't just go directly into Warpath.

Have you checked for used copies? I just looked it up on Chapters website and I see that the Mass-Market Paperback from 2006 is out of print, and what's out now is the Trade Paperback reprint from 2010.

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

This may be a little off topic but is there a sequel to J. Noah Kym's Bajor story from 'World's of Deep Space Nine?' I'm hoping to find out more about those mysterious people on that mysterious cargo ship (don't want to ruin the story for anyone so I'll stay vague.)

In an effort to get back on topic, I bought my copy of The Domion/ Ferenginar book off of Amazon. It was around $20 but I couldn't pass this story by. This book and 'A Stitch In Time' were the most costly of the lot so far...

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

Are you talking about the Even Odds?

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

No, they're talking about the ship that the Defiant came across, I believe.

There is in a sense, shivadas: I can't recall if it was in Warpath or Fearful Summary, but that does get explained in one of those two. (I think Fearful Summary, but I'm not 100% positive.)

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

No, I don't think it was the Even Odds, although it could be! Yes, the Defiant came across it. I am glad that there's some sort of resolution to this story. It's funny how you get down to the last few pages of a book and you're expecting all of these possible endings and then...more mystery. I guess that's why these books are so fun!

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

You mean the one that
blew up when Nog tried to start the warp core back up
, just to make sure, right?

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

Yeah, that's the one. I had actually forgotten what became of the ship until reading your post. Talk about selective memory...

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

Both "Fragments and Omens" (the Bajor story) and "Olympus Descending" (the Dominion story) feed into the storylines of Warpath, Fearful Symmetry, and The Soul Key, the DS9 relaunch books following The Worlds of DS9 books. The latter two books are the ones most directly connected with "Fragments and Omens."

The Soul Key in turn set up the conflict with the Ascendants, which is finally being told in the most recent and forthcoming DS9 books.

Re: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Worlds of Deep Space Nine #3: Dominion

Dan and I have finally reached this one on Literary Treks! I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story plays out now that Ascendance is coming soon.
