    Hello everybody!

My wife is not a trekkie, but she enjoys Voyager.

Being both a fan of the Borg and an adamant reader, what are the best borg novels out there?

Is there any title you can suggest me?

    Thank you immensely! :bolian:

I'd recommend TNG Vendetta as a great standalone. I'm also quite partial the Voyager relaunch novels: Homecoming, and The Farther Shore. They take place after the series and have an interesting Borg angle.

You should also check out the novelizations of Descent and Star Trek First Contact. Another book you might enjoy is Seven Of Nine; I haven't read it since it came out, but I recall that it shares a vey similar plot to the Voyager episode The Raven and the episode where Seven accuses the guy of stealing Borg technology from her.

I found Seven of Nine to be more similar to the Voyager episode Infinite Regress.

You know, so many people rag on Vendetta because subsequent TV episodes went in a different direction, but personally, it's my #1 favorite Pocket publication.

Do they? I've always found that it is spoken of fondly and many individuals born in the early to mid eighties, it is their first major introduction to Trek Lit and top of their lists like yourself.

    Vendetta was a great book.

The thing with the borg is that they're always being pulled in different ways, by Vendetta, by The Return, by Destiny...TV was no different. BOBW brought in the "assimilation" concept after Q Who had shown borg incubation chambers, First Contact retconned in a Queen...their nature makes them very malleable.

Personally my favourite is The Return. Totally incompatible with what the borg currently are supposed to be, but a fun read for me.

My vote is for Vendetta as well. I read it at a time that I just could not get enough of TNG during season 5 or 6. I've read a few other Borg-themed TNG novels since, but nothing especially memorable.

I'd give Vendetta a vote as well. It was one of the first of Pocket Books "Giant Novels" back in the day and for me that meant a bigger and grander story and more meat. Peter David was really on top of his game during the early 90s and put out a number of memorable novels that are fan favorites and Vendetta is one of them. And personally I don't care that it doesn't mesh with the later episodes. It's just a great story!

I think the Destiny trilogy is a good Borg infused read, followed by Kirsten Beyer's Voyager relaunch :techman:

Definitely. Destiny is up there with the best Trek Lit in my opinion.

Would that be a V for Vendetta? ;)

The only Borg books that I've read that I'd recommend are the Destiny trilogy. Just be aware that it is part of the post-Nemesis universe, so there are quite a few new characters, and have been some pretty big changes to the familiar ones. A lot of people have still been able to pick it up and read it without anything before it, so don't be afraid to jump right in.
