Top Ten of your all-time favorite Star Trek novels

Hard to do a top 10. My top three are set in stone though:

1)The Final Reflection by John M Ford
2)Federation by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens
3)Q Squared by Peter David
4)Once Burned by Peter David
5)Stone and Anvil by Peter David
6)First Frontier by Diane Carey
7)Spock's World by Diane Duane
8)The 34th rule by David R George & Armin Shimmerman
9)Imzadi by Peter David
10)A Stitch in Time by Andrew Robinson

Interesting that I really disliked a few of the ones on other people's favorite list.

1) 34th Rule
2) Federation
3) DS9: Avatar
4) Imzadi
5) Crucible: McCoy
6) Stitch in Time
7) Buried Age
8) Watching the Clock
9) Yesterday's Son
10) Spock's World

Interesting that I really disliked a few of the ones on other people's favorite list.

Yes, Final Reflection (the German version of it) for instance: I gave it away to a cousin, because I couldn´t force myself through.

I expect Diane Carey turnin´up in someones list with Ship of the Line or even worse Double Helix - Red Sector :guffaw:

1) Acts of Contrition
2) Protectors
3)Andor: Paradigm
4)A Ceremony of Losses
5)Watching the Clock
6)Orion's Hounds
7)Distant Shores
8)Creative Couplings (the print compilation, not just the novella)
9)Takedown
10) The Eternal Tide

Impossible to do only ten. QUOTE]

like picking puppies. you want them all.

1) Children of the Storm. And The Eternal Tide. And Acts of Contrition. And actually Beyer's whole Voyager relaunch. (Rules, what rules?)
.

Also love Beyer's entire Voyager relaunch. It brought me back to TrekLit.

Greg Cox's Khan trilogy

-(I don't think you'll be disappointed Kilana2!))

The Vulcan Heart/Soul trilogy

The Cold Equations Trilogy

Immortal Coil

The Light Fantastic.

Yeah, I love the trilogies. If one book is good a trilogy is exponentially better!

My top ten are:

10. The Persistence of Memory.
9. Serpents Among The Ruins.
8. Lost Souls (really, the entire Destiny trilogy).
7. Avatar (I count those as one novel).
6. Dark Mirror.
5. S31: Disavowed.
4. Warpath (nail-biter!)
3. Harbinger/Storming Heaven (hard to say, haha).
2. Raise The Dawn.
1. The Sorrows of Empire.

My Top Ten would be:

1. Mirror Universe Trilogy (Spectre/Dark Victory/Preserver)
2. Echoes
3. Capture The Flag
4. The Eugenics War Books 1 & 2 (I've had To Reign In Hell for about 10 years now, but I just haven't gotten around to reading it, as I had read the first 2 books back-to-back, but then I wasn't able to get the 3rd book till a few years later---but someday I want to read the 3rd book)
5. The Escape
6. Grounded
7. The Return
8. Reunion
9. Heart Of The Warrior
10. Cybersong

1. Destiny (especially Mere Mortals) - David Mack
2. Mission Gamma: Twilight - David R. George III
3. Q-Squared - Peter David
4. Imzadi - Peter David
5. Millennium Trilogy - the Reeves-Stevens
6. Fire Ship - Diane Carey
7. My Enemy, My Ally - Diane Duane
8. Behind Enemy Lines / Tunnel Through the Stars by John Vornholt
9. The Persistence of Memory - David Mack
10. Pretty much all of the Beyer Voyager Relaunch. That's one long great novel for me.

There are so many great books it's hard to pick just 10. Technically this is more than ten, but I tend to but multipart stories together in my head.To be honest in an hour some of these answers could be different, but the books that come to mind right now when I think top ten are:
DS9: Avatar 1 & 2
A Time to Kill/Heal/War/Peace
Articles of the Federation
DS9MG: Twilight
VAN: Reap The Whirlwind
DTI: Watching the Clock
DS9: A Stitch in Time
TNG: Q Squared
TTN: Orion's Hounds
MU: The Sorrows of Empire

JD has some of my favorites in his Top Ten.

Interestingly some of you mentioned MG Twilight. While I like the DS9 relaunch, Twilight is not the best novel for me, not even among the MG novels.

Ones favorite Top Ten may change over time. Mine is likely to do ......

Much like JD, this list is subject to change depending on my mood...

1- VOY: Full Circle - Kirsten Beyer (If I have to pick just one of the amazing VOY relaunch)
2- VAN: Precipice - David Mack (If I have to pick just one of the fantastic Vanguard series)
3- A Time for War, A Time for Peace - KRAD
4- Avatar (both books, as i consider it one novel in 2 parts)
5- TLE: The Art of the Impossible - KRAD
6- Destiny trilogy - David Mack
7- DRG3's Typhon Pact trilogy (Rough Beasts of Empire, Plagues of Night, Raise the Dawn)
8- Articles of the Federation - KRAD
9- A Singular Destiny - KRAD
10- MU duology by David Mack (Sorrows of Empire, Rise Like Lions)
11- Christopher's DTI duology (haven't read The Collectors yet)

Honorable mentions go out to the rest of Beyer's Voyager relaunch, Mack/WarDilmore's/Marco's Vanguard series, Christopher's Rise of the Federation series, and the Myriad Universes short novel collections.

I´m currently reading Precipice. It´s the hell of an adventure. My list contains mostly older stand-alone novels. Vanguard as a whole series is great. You could fill your Top Ten with just the Vanguard novels.....

Precipice is one heck of a read. The myriad Universe books have some great stories them. I really the Au story of Star Trek 3 Chimes of Midnight.

JD has some of my favorites in his Top Ten.

Interestingly some of you mentioned MG Twilight. While I like the DS9 relaunch, Twilight is not the best novel for me, not even among the MG novels.
......

Twilight was radically different from everything else being written at the time. Truly alien aliens, new characters being developed, and some great prose.

In no particular order (well, maybe #1):

1. Imzadi
2. Q-Squared
3. Vendetta
4. Serpents Among the Ruins
5. Art of the Impossible
6. Full Circle
7. Objective: Bajor
8. The Pandora Principle
9. A Rock and a Hard Place
10. The Ashes of Eden

Honorable Mentions: The Left Hand of Destiny, Harbinger, Abyss, The Return, Warpath, Star Trek V novelization, Federation, The Captain's Daughter, The Rift, Once Burned, Losing the Peace, Resistance

I just realized, I forgot about Destiny which I would probably put in my top five. I'd switch out Twilight for Destiny.

I don´t know where to put in Unity, Left Hand of Destiny (I+II), Warpath, Vanguard - Precipice, Crucible - McCoy, The Captain´s Daughter or both Imzadi novels in. All fantastic novels.

I could split my Top Ten into Top 5´s of each series, though. I have to think about it.
