More 3D Printing

I have been deliberately avoiding this thread, after the last round of preview pics that MadMan sent me for my Chariot Class.
I wanted the full effect of opening the box and seeing her for the first time, which I shared with a friend.

If you think it looks good in these pictures, it looks even better in hand.
He has done a fantastic job all round, and I could not be happier, or recommend him more highly.

Still working on the Heli-Carrier, even have some jets for the flight deck. They are just a little to big, but that's the smallest I was able to print them.







More later... have to model up a stand for it, too.

Yep, they are F-22s. I think I might try to go a little smaller tonight, so I can put a few more on there.

is it the model size which can't go smaller, or the details? (those wings look pretty thin)

 

It's the model.

If I thicken up the wings some, I might be able to go smaller, otherwise, they will be thinner than my printer resolution, which means Makerware will just ignore that part, and not print it at all.

I was able to cut down the planes some, to make them smaller and look more like a quinjet. I think they turned out pretty good.

Evening, everybody.

I didn't make to the Heli-Carrier tonight, but I started my next project...

A helmet for a Lich King costume.

This model started out as part of the actual video game model I found online as an OBJ, which I cleaned up adjusted so that it will actually fit over a person's head. I smoothed it out quite a bit with subdivisions, also.

Modeling is done, but I'm trying to figure out how to slice it up to fit in the printer.





I also found Blender's OpenGL render preview button... in 8 years, I never knew I could do that!

While I wait for approval on the other two models, I started another one.

This one is the Arwing, from the game Starfox64. I'll also be doing the Wolfen, which is an enemy ship in the game.







This is a smaller model, it will be about 6.5 inches long when completed.

Markonian, we're definitely there, as far as building ships like you are talking about.

One of my upcoming projects is a customized Federation dreadnought, that he's planning to use as part of a tabletop game.

As far as actual production costs, most of it is the time, really. I can get about 3-4 models out of one roll of filament. I'm just about at the point where I've paid for the original printer purchase, so now it's time to start saving for a second one.

Most of the orders I've completed so far are in the 50-75 range, with only a few being more than that. If you are interested in something specific, send me a PM so we can discuss it.

I'll be doing the clear parts tomorrow. I'm actually trying out some new filament, and some different colors. I have been using Octave filament, but I printed this out with JET filament. Haven't noticed a difference, yet.

You just enclose the link location with [ yt ] *link* [ /yt ], without the spaces. It's a bit of a hack, so if you edit the post, the embedded video with disappear.
