Contemporary Films That Used Clips of TOS...

Two recent films I've seen used clips in certain scenes, either to make a little statement on the scene...or to give an aesthetic. For example, Eddie Murphy's Boomerang has a scene from 'Elaan of Troyius' with Kirk kissing Elaan...which mirrors Eddie Murphy's onscreen relationship with Halle Berry at that moment. Too, he and she also talk about how much of a Trekkie each of them are...and it is revealed that Spock's last name is 'Jenkins.'

Another example is in X-Men: Days of Future Past which uses a clip from - I think - 'The Naked Time'. Not too mention, it is actually supposed to be the 1960s when this particular clip is used.

There is another movie that escapes me which also used a clip. I think it's from the 1990s, and the clip used was from 'The Enemy Within.' ("I want to live!...I want to live!")

Are there any other contemporary movies that have used TOS clips?

What about Airplane II, where Shatner's character looks into the periscope, sees the Enterprise fly by and does a double-take?

The early 70's actually. X-Men: First Class took place in the 60's during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Days of Future Past was during President Nixon's administration. Which is fine, because Trek was exploding in syndication at that point. :)

"Arena" is also showing on TV near the opening of the Coneheads movie, and composer David Newman does a nice segue from the Sol Kaplan music in the clip to the main-title music of the film, IIRC. Not quite as cool as what Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey did with the same clip (or nearly so) from the same episode, but still cool.

The 1981 Tom Cruise-Sean Penn movie TAPS features the cadets watching a rerun of "Spock's Brain" in the TV lounge.

Drop Zone with Wesley Snipes shows a couple night watchmen watching Journey to Babel while on duty.

One thinks Shras is a 'dweeb' in a bad toupee, to which the other responds 'They all wear wigs on that show' (Shatner dig?)

Spock's Brain was also in the 90s series The Wonder Years

A Star Trek TOS clip recently showed up in one of the final episodes of The Newsroom

That's the one I was wracking my brain trying to remember. The Bill and Ted reference to "Arena" was confusing me because I never even saw that movie.
