Playmates was a golden age despite some misfires (the 1701 debacle and the ridiculously pre-posed figures of such action-oriented(?) figures as Kirk from COF and Trelane coming immediately to mind). And I am still so bitterly disappointed the TOS bridge playset never made it into production.

I had all of these. If I remember right there were chase versions that came with “Tribbles” which were basically just a bunch of different colored cotton balls strung together. I had one or two of those.

Yes, I remember those Tribbles as well. I thought they were better than the hard-molded ones that came with the 9-inch Sisko and Dax from T&T.

I bought a bunch of figures for a good price thinking they 4.5 figures becuse there was no scale in the picture, turns out they were mostly 6 inch versions, doh!

Have I mentioned I hated the 6-inch figures? I wish they had just stuck with the 4.5" scale for everything.

Don't get me started on different scales of figures. I'm so frustrated by having Star Wars figures from Kenner in 3.75 and then Star Trek in 4.5, and Stargate in between, and on and on. And 6 inch is starting on a much bigger wave now. :brickwall:

Yeah, I think the First Contact 6" figures were the beginning of the end. Should have kept them in scale with everything else, especially since the Voyager figures had only just come out. Fortunately they later did do them in 4.5" scale for Insurrection, but some are quite hard to find. And they never did Geordi.

They weren't branded as Insurrection - they were Target exclusives in the US. Dr Crusher was only released in Europe and Australia.

Thanks the guide checklist I have only calls them "Star trek insurrection". I at least would like the villain of the movie. Bad villain but his deign was intesrting. Maybe Ill get lucky and Ill get one of these in blind playmates star trek figure box I bought from a collector store online

I remember seeing the Target exclusives when they came out. But I passed as I was moving off collecting at that time. I looked them up on ebay a while back. Picard and Data were going for 60-90 bucks a pop.

    Wow,
I think I scooped up a bunch of those from the Target Clearance Aisle back in the day. I know for sure I've got a couple bags full of the Target Exclusive "transporter" figures somewhere in the cluttered mess of the fruit room...

This is another website that I use for trying to hunt down information on figures. It provides picture guide and release dates.

When I worked on the Sega Genesis/SNES Deep Space Nine, Crossroads of Time game for Playmates there was some brief talk about making a Sisko in his Saratoga uniform as an exclusive pack-in with the game, but ultimately that didn't come to pass, and I believe they sold that just as a regular figure in the end.

I do remember wandering around the Playmate's offices in Torrence, CA late one night and spotting the faceplate prototype for a full-sized tricorder, not the teeny one they ended up selling.

The tricorder seemed to be full size. Actually the only prop toy that was way off was the TNG type 1 phaser, which was far too huge XD

I do not like TNG era phasers This is one era that TOS did better IMO was the weapon design

They did do an exclusive Sisko in his TNG style uniform as a mail away figure if you bought the game. It's one of the harder to find Playmates figures.
