This episode was mostly good. The trouble with the message and the future continuity is that this plot thread could only be made interesting by exploring it--and more Borg is something very few people are in favor of (myself included).

Sorry if I gave anyone deja-vu with this post. Must stay spoiler free, ya know... ;)

Ironically, no one with the initials B & B even wrote this episode.

It's always fun to see the pre-emptive bashing before anyone even knows what they're talking about.

And this was one of the highest-rated episodes of last spring. The producers' job is to get more viewers and sell more ads, so it looks like they were doing their job with this episode.

And remember, after "ST: First Contact," the Enterprise-E returned to the future of the timeline they just created. That means that the next movie and the last seasons of DS9 and Voyager were all in the future of the "ST: First Contact" timeline, the same timeline in which "Enterprise" resides.

This is, of course, a different timeline from TOS and TNG and the first seasons of DS9, but then every time travel episode creates a new timeline.

There are dozens of different timelines in 40 years of Trek episodes. There has never been just ONE timeline for "Enterprise" to screw up (in fact, the second season of "Enterprise" is in a different timeline from the first season). As a sequel to "ST: First Contact," it makes perfect sense for "Enterprise" to follow up on events depicted in that movie. That movie was the origin of the alternate timeline in which "Enterprise" exists. This is the same timeline in which "ST: Insurrection" and most of "Voyager's" run take place.

The final episode of "Voyager" introduced a third timeline -- the "Admiral Janeway" timeline -- which diverged from the "ST: First Contact"-"Enterprise" timeline. "ST: Nemesis" and the second half of "Endgame" are the only episodes set in this third timeline.

There are probably a dozen different timelines in TOS and TNG and DS9 as well. Time paradoxes are very tricky and subtle things. They are not proof that the producers are ruining the franchise.

^^ To be temporally correct, we don't even know that the Ent-E even returned to the timeline of DS9 and VOY. It could be off in its own little timeline ... much like ENT is.

"Regeneration" was a nice little one-shot storyline. Nothing huge, nothing to wait weeks to see. Fit in with the events of FIRST CONTACT kinda nicely. I wasn't crazy about the fact that the Borg drones never call themselves "the Borg"(shades of those idiot Ferengi in Season 1,allowing continuity to be maintained albeit very lazily and clumsily)and it seemed a little too easy for Archer to blow them away given the more primitive weapons and technology, but all things considered it coulda been a LOT worse.
