Does anyone know of any Federation ships that can land on planets. The ones I can think of Voyager and the Archer class type from the Vanguard Series.

I thought perhaps the Defiant was able too. I am writing a short story and want to use the Defiant type starship as the main starship in my story and want it to be able to land on planets.

I suppose if the Defiant can't land on planets I can always write something like "This Defiant class starship is outfitted with this 'widget' so it now has the ability to land on planets.

Anyway, anyone think it is feasible for the Defiant to land on planets?

Google Defiant-Class MSD and it clearly shows landing gear, so go for it!

Any ship can land on a planet. It's being able to take off again that's the trick.

The runabouts can land, people just tend to forget that they're ships ships with their own registries and not shuttles.

The concepts for the Planet Of The Titans "Enterprise" had the saucer able to land and take off.

Didn't those triangles on the bottom of the TOS E indicate landing struts?

I'm pretty sure the Nova class can land on planets too, I recall seeing an MSD with landing struts, also my Eaglemoss model has markings for landing gear hatches on the underside.

    So sayeth the MSD!

Deck plans for the Nova-Class also show the only external door (other than the shuttlebay) being on deck eight to disembarking on a planet.

Federation starships that can land are
USS Voyager intrepid class, USS Equinox Nova class, USS Defiant Defiant class and I think the Akira class can land too and takeoff again

I don't think that an Akira-class vessel is capable of landing. It's too big. However, the Intrepid-class, the Nova-class, and the Defiant-class vessels are capable of landing and taking off again. I would also like to believe that for the Norway-class starship.
