No wonder Sarek chased human women.

Not for nothing, but as a kid that's exactly the message I took away from the two "Vulcan Episodes" about Sarek's choice! T'Pring was that horrible. (And Amanda was that charming.) Of course then I started looking at things with a bit more adult viewpoint (!!) and realized that T'Pau had many qualities to admire beneath the steely exterior. This just hit me, but I bet there's a novel out there with some sort of backstory between Sarek and T'Pau, who seemed to be contemporaries.

This also reminds me that while TNG's and DS9's treatment of Vulcans (aside from Sarek and Spock themselves on TNG) was problematic, I really enjoyed both T'Pol and Tuvok.

Spock is half-human, and we see how badly he was treated on Vulcan, so, there seems to be a thread of racism in Vulcan society (even in Sarek from the movies). T'Pring was arranged for marriage to Spock by their parents. T'Pring's family are either not racist, a strong ally to Sarek, or probably both, to be willing to accept a half-breed into their family. Nothing in T'Pring's speech to Spock is even remotely racist as to why she did not want to get married to Spock. At least T'Pring was not a racist despite her other negative traits such as lust and greed.

T'Pring always struck me as rejecting Spock for his heritage. I think she was using "legend" as a euphemism for "alien half-breed."
