What, no eclipse pictures?

Come on, I want to see some!

 

Watched the eclipse yesterday through a welding mask. Really cool... It was the first time I'd seen one. We didn't have the best seats in the house (southern California) and never saw the ring of fire (mostly a crescent of fire), but still, it was incredible.

I tried to get some pictures, but the light was too bright directly and when I tried to capture the image behind the welding mask, I could only get a greenish blob.

 

I didn't get a chance to see it but my parents took some. Apparently they got some good shots, but I guess they're kind of blurry because of the filter my dad made.

I can probably have my mom send me some of the pictures if you want.

 

I watched it from the beach here, and the best bit was my friend's home-made imager (using bionoculars to project the image on foamcore) was to good you could see sunspots on the projected image. We then looked directly at it using a small set of binoculars through welding glass, and you could see the sunspots that way, too.

The weirdest part is looking the opposite way from the eclipse, since the light in coming from around the Moon and the center of the light source is blocked off, your shadows get this weird, wispy quality around the edges.

 

I hear the best place to see it was in Arizona. Where I live in Canada, I didn't get a chance to see it, and even then if I had, I wouldn't have seen much.
