I think if at one point the designers of the shows would have kitbashed a background ship with such a configuration, the variability of designs we have today would be much richer. And also we would have been spared to ever look at horrible, completely nonsensical abominations like the "Yaeger Class". The best is that the nacelle configuration is within, what I call "probert rules", and has sort of been seen on the Constellation Class before. And I really like seeing the nacelles interacting with each other. Cant praise this kind of thinking outside the box while respecting in universe rules enough. I find the Idea so great, I almost forgot to mention how great the artstyle alone is. Love it.
I remember reading somewhere (most likely StarLog) that Probert envisioned some sort of energy exchange between the nacelles of the refit. And that comment was what immediately came to mind when I saw this piece.
...Thanks mate, much appreciated. You bring up great points. lol aye...I love it Niiiice I am glad to give you that visual. Here is an updated version of the above image...I think it is better: Direct image: https://i.postimg.cc/nLLm6gj1/Warp-Speed-00f.jpg
Now it has kinda Borg vibe. Would make a good villain ship. Could be an early Borg vessel...back in the day when they still used nacelles. Would fit good with the asymetrical design of the Borg drones.
Aye thanks! It mutes the colours more, almost like an older photo...but to me it seemed to fit the mood I wanted to convey. lol I opt different nacelle configurations as it is never stated or written that the nacelles need to be at the rear or front to achieve a stable warp bubble, as the nacelles are just giant generators/radiators to create a warp bubble. This way I can explore more options, and get a bit more creative
I love the stacked nacelle combo. The two sub-pylons could lean back--overshoot the top and end in two forward facing whip antennae
