Rapture is a great episode that shakes up the storyline about Bajor joining the Federation. The way Sisko enters the negotiations shouting about the upcoming locusts was a memorable moment. In hindsight, it was a good choice for Bajor not to join being as the war started.

"Equinox, Part I" - I love this episode. I love seeing how things could have been different for Voyager. I love that before Janeway meets Ransom she has a bit of hero-worship, but the reality is different. I love the characters that they introduced for Equinox - Ransom, Burke, Gilmore and Lessing all feel like real people in a very desperate situation.

It's not a bad episode at all, but it was written specifically with Robin Williams in mind. He sadly was unavailable, filming "Hook" as I recall. IMHO, he made the wrong decision, but like a random number generator your result will vary. Matt "Max Headroom" Frewer would take the Williams-intended role of Rasmussen. He's decent, but I suspect Williams - especially if he had his pre-featurefilm zaniness, might have been a bigger boon.

This one just started to get boring toward the end, but the setup and novel use of a temporal loop/chronic hysteresis/et al is a true breath of fresh air.

Also note Geordi about Ensign Fletcher, what with that infamous Lifecall commercial and Mrs Fletcher falling and being unable to get up having made the rounds on television at the time too.

At the time, it was like Alien3 - people expected another psychological horror thriller action piece, but got something different instead. One can still warm up to it...

The episode was stepping a little too close to changing characters to fit the plot's desire than having characters react true to it. I was more inclined to believe Picard's change than Guinan's.

The debate over a technobabble-heavy description describing what amounts to "An Escher Painting" versus letting Hugh's being reintroduced to the collective with his individual aspects intact -- would either really affect change? Witness:

1. The Escher painting: The Borg's systems are so distributed that they won't devote 100% of their processing power to figuring out the incongruities. Escher, for all we know, was in the ship's databanks anyway.
2. The Borg would more likely restore the collective's subspace signal that the Enterprise's crew blocked in order to make him get de-culted, which would re-absorb him back into their gestalt.

In either case, "Descent" being so sure that Picard made a mistake was taken too extreme by Admiral Backseatdriver there. Yes, yes, he should have tried to wipe out a true enemy that knows more about them than they do. No, neither method would have worked, but of the two Picard still guessed the best: The better solution WAS to let Hugh keep his shiny new emotions, which promptly made enough of the Collective go nuts and to cut him and his newfound cluster of "Look at me, it's all about meeeeeeee!" off of the Hive Mind (where as a group they all elevate one another). The result of being cut off from the Collective was like what Hugh had to deal with but on a larger scale, which induced even more psychosis. The result would be a far more dangerous enemy.

I warmed up to it over time, and it makes a great growth experience for Troi - and it is possible to counsel others (e.g. Geordi in "The Arsenal of Freedom") yet, when put into the same situation of having to take command impromptu, end up feeling insure.

Troi is seemingly desperate to save the whole crew, going against the grain of tension that O'brien and Ro are wound up about. And it's growth experience for Ro - the one who doesn't want to play the odds and just get out with a third of the crew guaranteed instead of risking all or none - in particular as well; Troi is in command; the division leaders/technicians/whomever as appropriate report to the top lead and the top lead makes the decision, which everyone has to obey. I need to see this one again...

The Darkness and the Light is a great episode in which Nana Visitor is able to get her teeth in after her maternity leave had finally ended. Even if she was still pregnant on the show.

I like the continuity of Kira's former resistance members reappearing, only for them to meet a grisly end.

I love the countdown of the deaths as well.
