I go to bed at 7 pm.
Dunno why, but I'm terribly tired lately and I sleep only poorly. So I try to make up by quantity what I'm missing in quality.

^I'll have one next Tuesday. It's propably a side effect of a summer flu that's not quite breaking out but that's still there, in the background. Sometimes having a good immune system can backfire.
    Or it's just menopause.

I started smoking again. I know I know
I need to get off my ass at work and walk. but I don't like just walking. So I found one my old briar pipes, got a pack of tobacco and .. its good to be back. I mean its BAD to be back but its good. I feel like the walking is offsetting the bad stuff.

I'm sorry, but it's not. I applaud you on the walking though.

I don’t tend to see it in profile very often so I’m always surprised when I see it in a photograph.

This fact isn’t random, I just needed to get it out of my system. My nose is fucking massive.

I hate the sound of my own voice.

Seriously. I don't know how people can stand listening to me talk and NOT punch me in the throat.

It would help if, when I speak, others heard the same voice that *I* hear, but of course that's not possible. :sigh:

^we sound very different to other people than we do to yourselves. The reverberation in our skulls changes the sound rather a lot. You might sound really cute to others :)
In Germany, people are convinced that there is a direct relation in size between a man's nose and his private parts. To my knowledge there is no such belief as regards any physical attributes of women. However, there is a theory that members of any gender with a big nose are successful in financial matters.

So I'm told, but I too dislike the sound of my voice so I tend to be on the quieter side:(

In my head, I think I sound like Lauren Bacall or even Meryl Streep, but when I hear my voice on a recording of myself, it sounds like someone is strangling Minnie Mouse. :ack:

You do realize that's an antisemitic "theory"...

As a matter of fact no. What I realize, however, is that you chose to construe an attack where none took place. I am certain you didn't do that on purpose but merely overracted to an imagined slight - a misunderstanding, I'm sure.

The nose in all its sizes, shapes and colours is a part of every human being's anatomy and not restricted to one particular religion or people. And it is in that universal sense that the theory was meant (btw, it is based on an American statistics, not a German, Palestinian or Israeli one).
Many people use similar similes (please pardon the pun - can't think of a better word). Compare the Ferengi having "the lobes for business", or English speaking people having "a head for business" while other peoples have " a hand for business" or "a nose for business" - nose is here used as comparism to a fine-nosed hound following a trace and finding its prey, not to a prejudice about any particular people's facial features, outdated 3 generations ago. (The stereotype, I mean, not the features, of course)

I did not "construe an attack", I was merely expressing puzzlement that someone from Germany was casually dropping a stereotype used to demonize Jews as a "fun fact."

And now I'm puzzled by your characterization of my comment as "an overreaction." I merely stated a fact, if you were indeed unaware of the antisemitic roots of that particular prejudice, then informing you of it was surely warranted, wasn't it?

Yes, I am aware all humans have noses.

If you think antisemitism is "outdated 3 generations ago", clearly you have not only not been paying attention to the past, but to the present as well.

Ferengi are fictitious people who do not have a history of persecution and stereotyping in the real world, so that example does not apply. The big nose/head for business stereotype has roots to negative visual depictions of Jews dating from the 13th Century. I have seen from your other posts that you enjoy researching. I highly recommend researching this and taking it as a learning opportunity rather than doubling down.

Anti-Semitism is sharply on the rise again worldwide along with right wing ideology. Dodge is not picking a fight but pointing out something that a lot of people really aren't aware of, how negative stereotypes are so prevalent in "folk wisdom" or sayings whose origins have been obscured but are still easy to find for those willing to look.

I sound like a 45 RPM record played at 33...I would fear for the sanity of anyone who thought my voice was "cute".

I do have a private (no pun intended) observation, but the sample size is statistically insignificant, so I can’t draw any firm conclusions.

I hate shaving and my beard grows at warp speed. That means that I have that unhappy task to perform three times a day if I don't want to look like someone who's spent the night on a public bench...
