Did a ship go to the GQ have to get premission to go through the WH from Deep Space Nine? Obviously, they didn't have to but as an act of good will
I think they didn't need a permission from Deep Space Nine, but from the Bajoran government. After all the wormhole was situated in Bajoran space.
^ Seems reasonable to me. Although likely, they probably had to at least alert DS9 they were going through. Seems to me DS9 must have been sorta the 'control tower' for the wormhole, to a certain extent...
I think DS9 was a kind of flight control / tower for Bajor, organizing the traffic through and around the wormhole. The permission would have had to come from Bajor as the wormhole belonged to them.
I would imagine that DS9 could let pass anyone that they chose to. Sisko was adamant about enforcing Bajoran law... when it suited him.
Now that you mention it I would have thought that the Bajoran government would have charged some kind of fee for access and presumably DS9 would be involved in prevent wormhole crashers. I don't recall any mention of that in the entire series though. There was that episode in the first series where a Bajoran terrorist tried to destroy the wormhole and Kira implied there were economic benefits to it and it needed to be protected with Federation muscle. psik
There was no mention of any sort of toll. The economic benefits came from the fact that the Wormhole attracted countless of ships to Bajoran space that would have otherwise never had any reason to go there.
But the Bajorans sent them a bill... And that's why the Dominion fleet came back at the end of the 5th Season...
