New version of The Twilight Zone to be on CBS All Access

Ah, they've been threatening us with this show for quite some time. Is anyone super stoked on watching this?

 

I'm always up for a new TZ.

I hope this one is as good as the 80's version.

 

I'll give it a shot, after I renew subscription to CBSAA when Discovery S2 starts.

Isn't Black Mirror on Netflix the new Twilight Zone?

 

I think it's more Outer Limits-ish.

 

I'd love to see a good Twilight Zone revival. These days, I greet news of revivals with more dread than excitement, but, as always, it all depends on the people involved. Discovery sounded great at first, but turned out awful. The 80s TZ was great, but the next one was practically unwatchable. Just gotta give it a chance and see what happens.

 

They tried to revive the Twilight Zone, more than once and it failed both times. First, with a movie, then with a TV series in the mid 80s. There were so many elements that made the original the classic that it is. Bernard Hermann's score, Rod Serling's writing and narration, the black and white palette of pre-color television. I'm extremely skeptical that the Twilight Zone can be brought back in a way that does justice to the original, or supersedes it.

 

So who’s narrating this time?

 

^ I nominate Jon Hamm. His narration on Legion has been great, plus his speaking cadence reminds me of Serling's a bit, IMO.

 

Nah, go for the soundalike narrator. Maurice LaMarche for the win.

 

To bad its stuck behind a pay wall.

 

Jordan Peele (who just won a Nebula Award for GET OUT) is producing the show. Maybe he'll do the honors?

Didn't you hear he just lost a narrating job due to accusations of sexual harassment?

 

We already have Black Mirror and Phillip K Dick's Electric Dreams doing single episode sci-fi anthologies so this is going to have some pretty stiff competition when it comes out.

 

No, but he'd still be great and it doesn't mean the new TZ producers won't hire him.
