The real fun is looking at the earlier comics when the character model that essentially was Teela's was instead used for the Sorceress (Goddess), who was also named Teela. Teela at that time had the blonde warrior model. Fun with continuity...

Those rings around her breasts on that chestplate are supposed to be the tail ends of snakes.

Source? I always figured they were just some kind of random decorative element, since nothing else about her outfit looks at all serpentine. Besides, cobras are known for their hoods, not their tails.

All I stated was that the cobra-theme was downplayed for the Filmation version, and you claimed it was completely absent. I don't think so, and I've given an example, which I thought was pretty obvious, so no, I don't have an official source. But another example (again, I don't have a source, but I think it's obvious when you look at it) is the high and wide collar. True, if the character weren't associated with cobras and snakes at all, I guess it would seem like random design elements, but knowing that the character has a cobra-theme in the action figure, it becomes obvious.
Maybe not as obvious as the toy's armor, but then again, that's what I originally said; downplayed.

Also, Teela's outfit in the cartoon was really the action figure's outfit sans the armor:

I never knew that, since the images of the toy that I saw in catalogs and commercials always had the armor on. Even so, the detailing on that outfit still doesn't suggest snakes to me. More like some kind of leaf pattern.

See those ridges? You know, the ones like the bottom side of a snake?

Yes, yes, I see what you see in it, obviously. I'm just saying the resemblance never would've occurred to me if you hadn't pointed it out, and I'm not convinced you're correct in assuming that was the designers' intent.

I'm glad Filmation didn't go with the cobra armor idea for the Sorceress. Her bird-styled costume and headdress is much more beautiful.

I've always liked the Sorceress' animated design myself, though I also like some of the earlier comic ideas between Teela and the Goddess. Isn't continuity fun? :angel:The DC comics did have a bit of fun playing homage to the earlier ideas, with Teela at one point taking her mother's place and gaining green skin based on the first depiction of the Goddess/Sorceress, before some of the basic elements of the MOTU were firmly established. Amusingly, the green skin in that story may have been an art mistake by the colorist, as some early design notes implied that the Goddess wore a green outfit.

Looking at those original sketches those started out as a 3 dimensional chest plate with Ram like horns by her breasts. No snakes intended in the design at all.

Well, Sony did just have the popular IP of Men in Black blow up in their faces. They may be excused for considering a fixed sum of secured profit. Also consider that they haven't actually shot the movie yet. And since Netflix is the home of the new MotU-related animation, it seems likely that Netflix came to Sony with an offer. Nothing's decided, and there's no more reason to worry about the quality than yesterday.

Yeah, I guess I can see where it would make sense to be cautious since this isn't necessarily a guaranteed $1Billion blockbuster, like the studios seem to want all of their franchise movies to be these days.
