For sure, I don't want to go anywhere! Well, the Convention was OK. For some reason they didn't have nearly the foot traffic as they had expected, and several vendors were no-show. Sunday was almost a rainout, we even had tornado warnings while we were still in the Convention Center! The facility was amazing, though. Much better than I am used to in Pensacola! But, it was nice to get away from home for a few days, and meet some new people. More new stuff soon. -Ricky
Thanks for sharing your pics with us! It’s always a pleasure following this thread! Inspiring stuff as always!
Discovery and Shenzhou models looking awesome! I'd like to put myself first in line for a Gagarin (Shepard-class?) if you get around to doing a model of her.
The Gagarin definitely is pretty sweet now that we've seen more of her. Too bad we don't have many clear and well-lit shots yet.
TrekCore posted shots. This appears to be best one: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net...ision/latest?cb=20171106170612&path-prefix=en I’m getting USS Vengeance vibes from the saucer detailing and nacelle shape.
Hey guys! I keep getting in this mode where I get too caught up with everything going on, to post updates! It's funny, I actually started building the Gagarin last night, out of re-used Shenzhou parts. It's coming out well! more soon. -Ricky
Looking good! I really like this design, i'm a fair of this general shape for Federation ships and it feels very practical thanks to the relative lack of windows.
Awesome! And I believe that all the "ships of the fleet" are bashes of a few parts...similar to the kelvin timeline fleet in JJverse. As always, that's pretty epic!
Thanks guys! I had forgotten to post any images from the convention! This was the first con that I actually wore a costume to. The Borg Drone is actually my captain in our local Starfleet chapter. Also, I had a lot of requests for my Constellation model to be done up as a model. I printed the first one, but forgot to take a photo of the parts! Going to work on more stuff now. -Ricky
Whew, it's been a crazy few months! Can't believe I haven't posted anything since November. Well, our big convention is over, and I had made a bunch of stuff! I also built some props for my Starfleet chapter for the Con. As part of that, I built a half size Guardian of Forever, complete with motion lights and all. The local airport re-brands itself the "Pensacola Intergalactic Airport the entire week before the con, and we were part of that. It was a cool event there... we greeted and took selfies with everyone as they got off their flights. We also helped out with an event in town hosted by Robert Picardo, who was in town for the con. He was awesome, and the party was a lot of fun! We were working the back door, making sure everyone went around front like they were supposed to. Except Bob, of course. But, more about the models. This was all the stuff I made for my Display... The two newest things were the Gagarin and Enterprise, which I want to finish soon. I'm keeping those. Time for me to slow down for a few months. Have fun guys... I really want to get back into making CGI stuff, so I think I might go ahead and texture up my Enterprise and Gagarin... Lots of images come to mind! -Ricky
Hey Ricky: Are you still tweaking your mesh for the Disco-prise or are you 'locked' on the current design and printing away? Seems like some clearer stills of the fly-by are popping up everyday. Your attention to detail is usually outstanding, but to have the two actually designers state that you're 'a little off' is a bit perplexing. Did they ever say where you were off? Q2
Version one is locked, for sure. I'm not sure when we'll get some images of the top of the saucer, but Scott was hinting that my impulse engines and other details on the top side weren't right. When images of the top ever come out, I'll go ahead and make the changes. Of course, I always like to add my own tweaks anyway, so what whatever I do will be a little different. -Ricky
