The lines on that ship are great. Very tight and compact. Can't wait to see the finished product.

    Thanks. :D

I an thinking I'll do something else with the nacelle pylons; I'm not sure if the gull wing look really fits or not.

Been plugging along with my Beyond 1701-A model a little bit more. As I always end up doing, I've been putting in some subtle tweaks to the elements I didn't like from the ship as shown, like the width of the neck at the bottom there, the pylon width, and will probably tweak the nacelle placement just a little, so that they don't look like they are falling off the pylons. ;)

Lots left to do, of course, but I want to have this one and the refit 1701 from Beyond on display together at the next convention in October. :D

    More soon,

Are you using Nightfever's model as a reference?

Yep, I've got it on another layer in Blender, so I can make most of the major parts line up. Of course, mine has about a 100th of the polys as his model, it's awesome.

    Thanks!

More soon, working on this some more tonight.

A few more renders, getting close all the time. :D Hopefully I can get it finished up in the next couple nights, so I can have parts of it on the printer this weekend!

    Thanks man. :D

If everything lines up right tonight, I should get the modeling done so I can move on to slicing it up.

Thanks guys! Finally made it over the finish line with this one, and should start printing parts out tomorrow for my test print.

Like always happens, the design grew on me more and more, as I was building it. The design really works well in that rear view!

Went a little nuts, and went ahead and assembled my prototype model tonight. :) Everything fit together really well, with only a few small gaps on the saucer. Looking forward to getting it painted, so I can have it on display at QuestCon coming up in a couple of months.

More soon, working on getting a friend with a Cricut to cut some new Aztec masks for me, since my old ones are about worn out. :)

The Beyond Enterprise-A looks phenomenal MadMan!!! Made me make some noises lol. Love your work and hopefully in time I'll be able to purchase one of those beauties off of you.

    Thank you!

Thanks, I'd love to do that for you. :)

The more I look at this thing, the more it grows on me. I'm starting to think about the decals and stuff... the first thing I'm changing is the huge numbering on the underside of the saucer. I know they did that in the movie so that it would be obvious, but I'm going to shrink them down to about the size they were on the Refit. What do y'all think?

Sweet! Also that would nicely balance out the hull markings to something more RL than at the end of the film. As curious if you plan on doing a newer version of the Discovery in time?

Yep, that's what I was thinking.

Newer version of Discovery? How do you mean? The version back on page 31 is probably the closest I'm going to get until after the show comes out. :) I have yet to paint it, of course. ;)
