This is nothing more than personal curiosity, but I think some other folks here might wonder about it once they read it.

Presuppose the following conditions for a vessels that can go faster than light, with the ST: TNG warp scale as a guide:

    * This is scientifically possible (insert magical lingo).
    * Inertial dampening is not an issue and you survive.
    * The vessel can handle any speed and will not fly apart.
    * Source of fuel is not an issue; it will go until you stop/decelerate the vessel.
    * Say you survive just fine and don't morph into a salamander or any other weird thing.

Okay, as the awful episode of "Star Trek: Voyager" where Tom has salamander babies with Janeway tells us, warp tem is as high as you can go -- that somehow you occupy all points of the universe at once (wouldn't you just occupy all points long the trajectory you are going? And even then, as long as you can add more zeros and come up with new words to describe those zeros, time can always be broken down and therefore, you can't really occupy multiple points at the same time, can you? Tangent, sorry!).

But it occurred to me for some reason last night ... what it you could go faster than that?

Make a number up, or just say you can go "Warp 10.0001". Hell, warp fifteen.

What would this even mean? Can that even be reached (is the universe big enough?)? Is there enough universe to decelerate? What if the universe isn't big enough, what happens when you reach the end? What would be the implications of going that fast and stopping/decelerating to the fabric of space? I know, a lot of questions man does not and likely never will have the answers to.

I just thought this was fascinating.

Yeah, I wondered where the file transfer protocol came into this as well.

You can't occupy all places at once anyway, objects can't occupy one given space at the same time, that means you can't occupy any space where you are yourself either, since you occupy every space.. so I guess you'll get at least very cranky at yourself for bumping into yourself and everything else in the universe which space you can't occupy anyway so I guess this all simply means that you'll get cranky and have a headache..:ack::alienblush::angryrazz::borg::cardie::confused::crazy::eek::razz::ouch::rolleyes::scream::shifty::sigh::shrug::thumbdown::weep::vulcan::whistle::wtf:

Yeah, it's just easier to say Voyager writers didn't give a fuck.

Obviously I meant FTL (Faster than Light; capitalized for nothing more than to make it stand out).

The TNG tech manual writers came up with that ;)

Please don't travel faster than c if you are composed of mass-energy. The induced tachyon field would cause the vacuum to change state and destroy the universe. Thank you.

All you need to do is perform the Han Solo manoeuvre – you buy a massive starship, and sell it on the black market to two parties simultaneously. Second party gets an imaginary ship with an imaginary mass. When they realise your deceit, you board it and escape the exchange at superluminal speed.

best put the vacuum back in the closet before the damage gets worse..

so yeah ftl is how fast I think heck I'm think right I can think at what ever speed I like so --- sometimes i am at like warp 3 - 7 but not usually just normal drift speed usually 000 :)

too bad about the astronomy tread :( np I was was going to put this in there about the eclipse of the sun on the 26th but .. I will put it here just because I don't want to start something new ,,, you know a tread that would "go nowhere do nothing" = gndn.. :)

Somehow it's outlasted Gopher, WAIS, and is waiting on telnet to have the last few nails on its coffin pounded in.

There are no "objects" in the universe. Just continuum superpositions of particles.

    Therefore, we are all salamanders.

Only if somewhere, somewhen somebody exceeded the Warp 100 barrier.

    Because they're cuter than salamanders.

Since Threshold is the most canonical of all Star Trek canon, there's no point in even contemplating anything that contradicts it.
